Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you the live coverage of WWE TLC! We’ve made it now to the end of the show as the main event just wrapped up! The second of night’s two titular Tables, Ladders and Chairs matches, which saw Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch take on Asuka and Kairi Sane – the Kabuki Warriors – in a WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match ended up headlining, just as I hoped!
This match was the result of a lengthy situation which saw Becky Lynch try to get Asuka back after losing to her way back at the Royal Rumble at the start of the year. Becky’s long-time nemesis Charlotte Flair also found herself at odds with Asuka and Kairi Sane. Both Becky and Charlotte later attempted to face the both of them in 2-on-1 handicap matches. For each of them, this was very much a mistake.
But the Kabuki Warriors basically dared them to challenge them to a match for their tag titles, and Becky and Charlotte were quick to accept – in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match!
You can see an excerpt of my recap of this match below:
Charlotte sets up another table on the outside, takes Asuka onto it. Charlotte to the top rope, wants her moonsault but Asuka stops her! Hooks her for a super powerbomb?! Asuka indeed powerbombs her right through the table, Charlotte landing hard as hell! Becky with two Bexploders to Asuka into a stack of ladders! Takes her into the ring, Becky grabs he rope which was still on the ladder and whips Asuka with it until she has to bail. Becky sets the ladder up, climbs it, but Asuka pulls on that rope to pull the ladder over and Becky fails onto the top rope! Asuka sets the ladder up and ascends! Grabs the titles and that is that.
Winners: The Kabuki Warriors
Well that was certainly wild, ton of big spots… pretty messy chaos though, hope Kairi’s okay.
Indeed the Kabuki Warriors retained the Women’s Tag titles. However half the team’s health seemed to be in jeopardy.
During the course of this match, Kairi attempted a splash through a table where the table did not break and appeared to sustain a major concussion. The match went on for several minutes afterwards, in which it was clear Kairi was barely aware of her surroundings, needed a lot of instruction to get through anything, clearly not all there. Charlotte Flair powerbombed her through a table in this state in which Kairi clearly was entirely unable to go up for the move, absolutely terrifying stuff there.
I surely hope that Kairi will be okay, but that was a rough thing to see.
