Fans have been clamoring for it, many even wanting Bray Wyatt to be Universal Champion, and the WWE has listened so far.
After advertising a new Firefly Funhouse segment for a few days prior, Bray Wyatt appeared as himself in the promo. He pointed out in a good natured/psychotic way that both were responsible for taking something from him he cared about in a previous life, and how they weren’t a good team.
He then challenged the winner of their Clash of Champions match to a Hell in the Cell match, with an ominous, “See you in hell.”
The possibilities
There’s no doubt the WWE has invested a great deal in putting Rollins over as the top face from trying multiple angles to having Austin give him a shout out on a Skype chat. Becky Lynch was even on Austin’s new show, Straight Up Steve Austin, where they talked briefly about her and Rollins’ relationship. Was it a plug for him, not really, but it did show him as a good guy and allowed fans to feel closer to him and Lynch. In short, he’s their golden boy.
It’s also true that Braun Strowman deserves to be champion. He gets one of the loudest pops at the shows and is a fan favorite. He’d also be a dominate champion much like Andre the Giant would’ve been. The thing here is, it’s not believable that anyone could beat him for the championship, mush like with Andre. It’s most likely the reason they made Rollins “the Beast Slayer” since Strowman never beat Lesnar.
Then there’s the largely unknown threat the Fiend provides. While many feel it’s too soon for him to challenge or win the Universal Championship, Bray Wyatt has been a top performer for years, making the most out of the gimmicks he’s used. It can be argued that he’s been held back a times because, well, he’s been.
What’s all this mean for the Fiend?

What the Fiend represents is a new Undertaker type of reign. While no one can replace the Dead Man, there’s plenty of room in the niche her carved out for others to follow and expand. Bray Wyatt if one of those.
The reason many believe it’s too early for a championship match this early in the Fiend’s career is because he has to win this match. If he losses, it’ll destroy any headway the character’s made so far as a terror. In short, he needs to win this and hold onto the title for a few months. The question is, will the higher ups allow that to happen or will they have him drop it back to their golden boy in a couple of weeks or the next pay-per-view?
So, do we let him in?
