So the launch of WWE 2K20 has been, in simplest terms, a complete and utter debacle. As a fan of video games and wrestling games specifically, it’s a disappointing thing to see. As an unabashed, shameless lover of garbage, I’m ecstatic about it. The more serious side of this has been spoken about, and 2K Games finally responded to the trending #FixWWE2K20 onslaught a couple of days ago:

Soooo it’s gonna get fixed eventually, probably, to some degree.
That being the case, I think it best for this article to just bask in how ridiculous this launch was. There have been a myriad of gifs out there and they’re really just a delight.
Even before the glitches became apparent, there was a lot to be said about the quality of the models themselves, or rather the lack thereof:
The faces vary, but hair in particular really seems to be an issue here.
In fact, Bret Hart’s hair specifically seems to be problematic:
I mean it’s one thing to see it glitch out in an isolated incident but…
Is… is his model just like this? Is this a feature?
Yeah I guess his hair is just programmed to float like that in WWE 2K20. Huh.
Speaking of hair, the hair physics appear to have taken a pretty steep incline from last year’s 2K foray. Just take a look at the side-by-side comparison of Bianca Belair’s entrance, with 2K19 on the left:
I dunno about you, but it looks very much like I’m seeing the work-in-progress vs. the finished product when I look at that gif. This serves as a fine argument for building on the last year’s installment rather than starting from scratch, when you’re working on an annual release schedule.
Anyway let’s get to the real glitches, shall we?
Here we see a spastic triple threat match featuring Carmella, Kairi Sane and Alexa Bliss wrestling on a canvas of quicksand:

Special note should be given to the occasionally shrinking legs, spontaneous duck walks, the endlessly quivering ropes, the vortex of noodle limbs that the women frequently turn into, and most wonderfully, the snap suplex to the center of the Earth.
Anyway, here’s Sasha Bank’s patented no-armed, motionless Giant Swing:

The next one was partially shared in CP Bialois’ article, but I feel like the whole clip is really worth seeing. Because while most of these gifs start mid-way through the glitch, this one shows us how they start. It starts off looking perfectly regular, until a fateful attempted powerbomb onto a set of steps that simply did not want to cooperate:

And just so you can see it in it’s full unobstructed glory, here’s what it looks like when you try and put Erick Rowan’s old mask on Becky Lynch:
That’s no way to treat a cover star…
Xavier Woods was kind enough to bring attention to a glitch revolving around his apparent cloning. This image shows him standing in the corner, calmly watching as Brock Lesnar destroys all three members of the New Day, including… Xavier Woods?
Honestly, I’m just glad the models in WWE 2K20 manage to keep their chin up in spite of their stressing circumstances:

This last gif here, well… there’s a lot I could say. But I don’t know if I’d be able to keep my job if I did! So I’ll just say it’s my favorite:

Lost in the shuffle with these glitches is the incompetence shown with special edition bonuses.
If you pre-ordered the game and paid enough money, $130 apparently, you were meant to get several bonuses. These would include glass-cased pictures of Edge or Rey Mysterio, signed by the men themselves.
But apparently even that got glitched somehow as many people reported getting unsigned photos of the Rated R Superstar:
Lame. Seems like it happened to a few other people too. Someone dropped the ball. I’m filming a movie for the next month but when I get home I’ll get a p.o box. Everyone who didn’t get one signed, I’ll follow you on here, give you the address and you can send it to me to sign🤙🏼 https://t.co/GgLELXEDTo

Atleast Edge has done his part to try and fix the mistake… but honestly, it’s just another example of what a disaster this launch turned out to be. Shame, I really loved the commercials they had for this one, but now it’s hard to see them without scoffing.
So yeah. #FixWWE2K20 became popular enough to trend and for good reason. Personally, I think this guy has the right idea:
#FixWWE2K20 trending…
@AEWrestling Just curious do we have a timetable on an AEW video game yet? Seems like another market that could use an alternative.

Oh… wait. Hrm.
