Just when it looks like the WWE has begun the recovery process following their blackeye at HIAC, someone uttered, “Hold my beer.”
Someone, somewhere in the company that worked with Visual Concept on the WWE superstar ratings on WWE 2K29 managed another slight.
While no where as poignant as the HIAC finish, underrating Sasha Banks with an 80 when Becky Lynch is rated a 90 and Charlotte Flair is rated an 87 has ignited its own debate among fans and, most interestingly, Sasha Banks.
Slight Trend
To be ranked so low given her talent level and what she’s accomplished is another in a list of recent slights going back to Smackdown’s move to Fox. There, they told the Undertaker, one of the main reasons Smackdown is what it is, that he “wasn’t needed” after promoting him and Steve Austin. Both were a no show.
Then the HIAC debacle, and now this.
Of course, the slight may just be work as Banks later gave a shoutout to Vince McMahon and said everyone not following his Twitter account should. Controversy is a great way of promoting a new product.
Work or real?
She may be listed as injured with a sore tailbone, but what’s to stop her from using this as a way to work the microphone and instigate a new rivalry because of this?
Or maybe she got into trouble for her comment?
In a world where the line between real and illusion is blurred, it’s difficult to know who’s being honest and who isn’t. One thing for sure, fans in general aren’t too happy on social media, but at least this is correctable.
Either way, fans are going to purchase the game without hesitation, poor rating or not.
The question then becomes, how many will use Sasha Banks that aren’t hardcore fans of hers?
