Sasha Banks is one of the major players Smackdown Live has in their womens division, but the top draft pick has been on the shelf since Hell in A Cell a month ago. This draft investment has finally paid off; The Boss is back in the ring on Friday.
The Injury Suffered
During her Hell In A Cell classic with Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks suffered a tailbone injury, it’s unknown when this injury struck during the intense match, as there was many nasty bumps taken by both competitors. It could have been from Banks being suplexed off the top rope onto a bed of steel chairs, tailbone first. If not that, maybe she took a bad fall getting dropkicked off a makeshift seating arrangement made out of kendo sticks wedged into the mesh of the Hell in a Cell. There is plenty of ways to get hurt in a match like Hell In A Cell, which didn’t make this news too surprising.
Atleast she wasn’t thrown 20 feet off the cell, which was the case for the most famous example of the match featuring Undertaker & Mankind from King of The Ring 1998, that would have kept her out of action for much longer than a month. WWE fans are thankful she wasn’t on the shelf for very long, as Banks despite her attitude towards them remains a steady fan favorite due to her impeccable in ring abilities.
Alliance With The Smackdown Womens Champion
For several months now, Banks has been the ally of current Smackdown Womens Champion and tag partner Bayley, who has an all new attitude in recent months. It’s unlikely Banks will attempt to take the title off her friend, which will keep her from being directly involved with the Smackdown Womens Championship scene. The duo are former WWE Womens Tag Team Champions, so we could see them clash with the Kabuki Warriors (Asuka & Kairi Sane), or Sasha Banks could simply act as a barrier to people who would like to take the Smackdown Womens Championship from her friend Bayley.
Clash With Nikki Cross
Banks will make her return to the ring against Nikki Cross on Smackdown later this week, with Cross being the most recent opponent to take a shot at Bayleys spot at the top of the division. With Sasha be as successful as her friend & partner at taming the mad Scottish lass, or will her injury come into play during the match leading to defeat? It should be a very fun matchup, and a reason to look forward to this weeks installment of Smackdown Live.
