WWE Survivor Series 2019 Kickoff Live Recap & Results

Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here with the kickoff show for WWE Survivor Series 2019. Live play by play, you know how it goes! Watch this space.

We get the usual shilling from the panelists for the first 15 minutes. It appears that the opener for the main card will be the women’s triple threat match pitting Becky Lynch vs. Bayley vs. Shayna Baszler.

Paul Heyman promo. He more or less reiterates all his points from Raw.

Interpromotional tag team battle royal announced which will have a post of it’s own up soon.

Shawn Michaels is here now. Announces the team for NXT in the men’s 5-on-5-on-5 traditional elimination Survivor Series match. It’s Tommaso Ciampa, Matt Riddle, Keith Lee, Damian Priest and WALTER.

Adam Cole backstage recounts the hard week he’s had, appearing on Raw, SmackDown, going through a brutal ladder match and then WarGames last night. But he’s not complaining, he’s bragging. Says no one else could go through that and come out victorious.

After much discourse, the time has come for the first match, a unique one for sure…

    Interpromotional Tag Team Battle Royal

Participants – Street Profits, The OC, Hawkins & Ryder for Raw; The Revival, Heavy Machinery, Lucha House Party, Roode & Ziggler for SmackDown; Forgotten Sons, Imperium, Breezango for NXT

SmackDown just straight-up getting an extra team. Weird. Early on, Lince and Metalik take the SIlly String spot to save themselves from eliminated. Steve Cutler gets tossed, so the Forgotten Sons are out. Dorado gets tossed by Dawkins, Lucha House Party is gone. Ziggler with his usual tease. Triple team on Otis, Revival and Ziggler working together. Hawkins thrown through the middle rope, but Ryder gets legit dumped onto him for the elimination of that team as Otis escapes the fray. Otis tries to eliminate Marcel, but he makes it back in. Aichner looking to power Ziggler over the top. Poke of the eye quells that. Ford getting double teamed by the OC but slips back in under the bottom rope. Aichner with a catapult takes Ziggler over but he holds on. Aichner tries to finish the job, but Ziggler pulls him to the apron. Breeze in trouble as well. Ziggler with a headbutt to Aichner, Marcel grabs Ziggler to try and help the elimination but Roode clips the running Aichner and shoves him to the floor to eliminate Imperium! Ziggler’s gonna fall but Roode manages to catch him and pull him back in!

Otis spins into a scoop slam! And now we see the Caterpillar!!! But Revival and OC stop him and toss him, Heavy Machinery is out to boos. Fandango through the middle rope. Breeze taken to the apron, gets knocked off but Fandango catches him! Places him back on the apron and turns his back, Revival shoves Breeze off again and they collapse to the floor. Every NXT team is now eliminated. Street Profits with the double dropkicks take out Revival, they’re out! Gallows with uppercuts, Back Suplex Neckbreaker to Roode! Go for Magic Killer, but Ziggler intercepts with the Zig Zag to Anderson! Gallows taken to the apron, superkick takes him to the floor! We’re now down to the Street Profits vs. Bobby Roode & Dolph Ziggler. Brawl commences, Dawkins with the boots up to Roode, charges into a spinebuster! Roode holds Dawkins in place, superkick missed and nails Roode! Roode taken to the floor! Ford tries to dump Ziggler but reversal takes him to the apron. Ford up top, Roode knocks him to the apron! But Roode and Ford now teetering, they each make it in, Ford with a big splash but Roode immediately dumps him.

Winners: Bobby Roode & Dolph Ziggler

Blue team gets the first win. 1-0-0 SmackDown.

NXT Cruiserweight Championship: Lio Rush (c) vs. Akira Tozawa vs. Kalisto

Early on, Rush taken to the outside, Tozawa tries a dive but clipped by Kalisto. Kalisto with a Fenix-style rope bounce arm drag, kick to Rush in before he went as well! Kalisto with an early SDS try, but gets shoved off to a kick to the face from Lio. Rush slips between Tozawa’s legs into the ring, takes them both down. Avoids a double shot, handspring back elbow to both men. “Let’s Go Lio/Lio Sucks” chant, Rush covers Akira for a 1 count. Akira with a power punch to Lio, Kalisto taken out, Fireman’s Carry Slam to Lio, running kick to the face for a nearfall.

Lio up top, stopped by Tozawa and Kalisto. They all three go up to the top rope, Lio stands slowly… SPANISH FLY TO BOTH MEN FROM LIO!!! Lio with shots and chops, Kalisto and Tozawa strike back. Lio with roundhouse kicks to both, backhands missed, Tozawa with a bridging German Suplex! 2 count when Kalisto breaks it up with a jackknife cover for a nearfall! Kalisto ducks a roundhouse kick, kicks off Tozawa for an SDS to Rush!!! Shining Wizard from Tozawa breaks up the cover!! Tozawa drags Rush towards the corner, off the top with a senton! But Kalisto breaks up the pin.

Kalisto and Tozawa in each other’s face, slaps commence. Tozawa wins out in strikes, but Kalisto ducks one, back kick to the gut. Handspring, Tozawa wants a German but Kalisto lands on his feet; SDS!!! But Rush off the top rope with the Final Hour to Kalisto before he can capitalize! And that is that!

    Winner: Lio Rush

As expected, Lio retains and notches the first win for NXT. That makes it 1-1-0, NXT and SmackDown tied as of now.

Sami Zayn interrupts the panel to try and make sure everyone takes the AJ/Nakamura/Strong triple threat seriously.

New Day with a fiery and well received promo hyping up their match up next.

The New Day vs. The Viking Raiders vs. The Undisputed Era (Non-title)

Kyle, Big E and Ivar start us off. Kyle quickly kicked to his corner, Fish tags in. Leg kicks, ends up getting a double arm drag. “Undisputed” chant. Fish comes in, gets body slammed, Erik bodyslams Ivar onto him. Kofi tags in, standing dropkick! Tag to E, Kofi with a snapmare, E holds Kyle for the PK! Cover for 2. Kofi leap frogs over E for a legdrop to O’Reilly! Nearfall.

Kofi throws Kyle to the floor, thrust kick to Fish. Viking Raiders now square up with New Day in the ring. Brawl ensues. E thrown to the floor, Ivar and Kofi left in the ring. Kofi with Shuriken, but Undisputed Era in there with Kofi now, trying to double team, Kofi with a missile dropkick to Kyle, but Fish gets him with a dragonscrew over the middle rope. I’m a hardcore wrestling fan, by which I mean I’m a hardcore fan of wrestling... but I also have nothing against hardcore wrestling! I’ve been watching since 2006, back when I was 12 years old. In that time I’ve fervently followed WWE, TNA, ROH, Lucha Underground and others. Today I’m most passionate about NXT, New Japan and especially AEW! You could call me a modern wrestling savant but I know my old school stuff as well... I’ll be your huckleberry all night long.
