Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here and we are closing in on a pretty damn crazy weekend of wrestling. The long talked about NXT main roster invasion has finally happened over the past few weeks, and we’ve been led to a truly unique couple of shows. Rounding out the weekend, WWE Survivor Series 2019 is upon us, and it’s set to be a very unique show to say the very least. It’s a three way war, with Raw vs. SmackDown vs. NXT! Plus, three very interesting world title matches will be taking place as well.
Regardless of what you think of the build, the card itself looks incredible. It should be a surreal experience seeing these bouts come to head. And I’ll be doing a match by match preview for the whole show, so let’s get to it!
WWE Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match: Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown vs. Team NXT
For Raw, we have Charlotte Flair as the team captain. Her allies are Natalya, Asuka, Kairi Sane and for some reason Sarah Logan. This lineup was announced entirely off screen on social media. They didn’t really make as big a thing about assembling the team as SmackDown did… speaking of which, Team SmackDown is captained by Sasha Banks. Her team is made up of Carmella, Dana Brooke, Lacey Evans and Nikki Cross.
Raw seems to have a clear edge there, particularly given that they have the Women’s tag champs on their side. But it’s hard to pick a favorite when one team is entirely TBA, as is currently the case for NXT in both traditional Survivor Series elimination matches! Yes, sadly, at the time of writing anyway I cannot confirm any member of Team NXT for either match, which is really absurd given how much time has passed. One would think the go-home show might’ve mentioned this.
If I had to guess, we’ll see opponents from WarGames making a truce and pairing up.
This is just speculation, but given how many folks from WarGames are already expected to work both shows, I can’t help but think this will persist. And that WarGames match did effectively make up the top half or so of NXT’s women division.
I could easily be wrong about any or all of these, but my best guess for a team here would be Rhea Ripley, Candice LaRae, Mia Yim, Io Shirai & Bianca Belair. That feels about right for a team NXT. Part of me does want to give a pity spot to Dakota Kai… but that would perhaps conflict with the angle that they may or may not want to tell with her.
As for who wins, it’s truly a toss-up. But, I have a feeling that NXT is actually going to end up winning this little competition. Perhaps not, for all I know they could definitively lose every single match. But if that’s the case, it might mean getting several wins in a row here and since I picked Raw and SmackDown to trade already, that means the NXT wins need to start right here.
WWE Survivor Series 2019 will be airing this Saturday on the WWE Network at 7 PM Eastern Time, 6 Central. There will also be a two hour pre-show leading into the event. The show emanates from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer, and I will be giving you a live play by play of the show as it happens. Stay tuned!
UPDATE: Since this article was written, the full team for NXT has been announced. You can see the lineup here!
