AEW Dynamite is just under an hour away now and we’ve still got three huge tag matches to talk about! Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here and I’mma really need to be getting the lead out with these previews! So by all means let’s hurry on to what I find to be a truly fascinating match to consider…
Kenny Omega & Hangman Page vs. Kip Sabian & Shawn Spears
So there’s two things here. First off, of course, Kenny Omega and Kip Sabian just squared off with each other in a singles match on last night’s episode of AEW Dark. (Filmed six days prior.) Sabian took him to the limit – albeit partly thanks to a ton of help from Penelope Ford at ringside – but ultimately could not score the upset. He’s been stated to be obsessed with defeating the Elite. Shawn Spears is of course is most well known for being an enemy and former friend of Cody Rhodes, making him a natural rival to the Elite himself.
But here’s the thing. Hangman Page quietly left the Elite some weeks ago, announcing this on Being The Elite in a very interesting episode. He made it clear that he was not happy with being considered the least successful member of the group, and decided to part ways with them. So it’s funny, then, to see him teaming with Omega here tonight. And honestly, I’ve got some suspicions about this…
Especially considering he’s teaming with Kenny Omega. A prior episode of BTE actually featured some pretty clear foreshadowing that Hangman may well be feuding with Kenny in the future. These things tend to pay off in the long run. So… is something going down here? Will Hangman betray Kenny, or atleast tease some dissent? And whilst we’re talking about foreshadowing, Marty Scurll has managed to have more and more of a presence in AEW despite not actually physically appearing, and the same BTE where Hangman left ended with a lengthy lingering shot on a photo that happened to include the Villain…
It’s interesting to consider. But I’m not certain enough to hedge my bets on it. I’ll pick Kenny and Hangman to win, but keep a close eye on this situation.
