Another nail has found it’s way into the coffin of Ring of Honor. This time it is one of their most exciting roster members, Colt Cabana leaving the company. Cabana has been working both as a commentator & in ring performer for Ring of Honor since his return to the company in 2016. He had one final match against Alex Shelley, and that is set to be his final for the company at this time. This news was first reported by Fightful.com.
Colt Cabana & Where You Can Find Him
With him leaving Ring Of Honor, this opens up more time for Colt Cabana to tour with New Japan Pro Wrestling, where he teamed up with fellow comedy wrestling genius Toru Yano to solid success in World Tag League. They even notched a victory over the current tag team champions during the tournament, and are likely to get a title shot down the line should Cabana continue to work with the company.
His antics are very popular with audiences, and he can also put on some wrestling classics or fill on on English commentary whenever needed. With NJPW pushing into the United States, Colt Cabana could be a perfect man to help spearhead some tours, he is just such a multi-talented individual that is an asset to any company willing to give him a chance.
National Wrestling Alliance Importance
Cabana, a former two time NWA Champion, has been involved with the revival of the brand under Billy Corgan, and he is the current NWA National Champion in his second reign. He is very likely to continue with that brand, especially with their easy schedule at this time. He is set to defend the National Championship at NWA Into The Fire. His opponents are Aaron Stevens & Ricky Starks. We can also expect him to enter the the title picture for the Ten Pounds of Gold should he stay around. He has held it twice, but a third reign would be nice to see.
Colt Cabana is also a well traveled individual when it comes to smaller independent promotions, even having once found his way to my home of Cape Breton to perform. Always check the posters and announcements for your local promotion. You never know when or where Cabana could pop up.
