Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here and last night was a hectic one for me… but I’m back this morning to finish out the results pages for WWE NXT. There were certainly some big ones to speak of, so let’s get to it.
The main event was a colossal triple threat match, pitting two of NXT’s biggest icons in there with the man everyone has pegged as the star of the future. Finn Balor, fresh off his monumental return to NXT and proceeding heel turn. The uncrowned champion finally returning from injury in Tommaso Ciampa. And of course the Limitless Keith Lee.
It was a high stakes triple threat match, given that the winner would become the new No. 1 Contender for the NXT Championship, the next man to challenge Adam Cole. All of them had plenty of reason to go after them, given that Ciampa and Lee have been at odds with Cole and the Undisputed Era that he leads for some time, and Finn had for a couple of months teased that he would be joining up with Cole only to surprise him with a pele kick!
In the end, Finn Balor was the one who prevailed, thereby earning the shot.
Keith Lee, the favorite of many, was very close to getting the victory himself. He was in control of the match, taking it to Tommaso Ciampa as Balor was seemingly incapacitated. The big man hit a moonsault, and then nailed his Spirit Bomb (essentially the Last Ride with a sit-out) on Ciampa, only for Finn to surprise him with a Coup de Gras immediately after, before he could even make the cover! Finn got the pin on Lee from here to steal the victory.
Thus, he puts himself next in line to face Cole. This match will take place next week.
