Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here to give you the results from WWE SmackDown as they come! We are most of the way through the show now but my job is far from done! After all, we just saw an impromptu match come and go, one that theoretically could’ve been important if given a finish.
After Bayley again dispatched of Dana Brooke without too much grief, she and Sasha Banks were going to administer a 2-on-1 beatdown until Lacey Evans emerged to make the save. She then called out Sasha Banks for being a bully and challenged her to a match right there on the spot.
You can see my recap of this match below:
Lacey Evans vs. Sasha Banks
Lacey slams Sasha’s head into the second buckle over and over, Sasha reverses and does the same. Meteora to the back of the head, cover for 2. Suplex for two, arm wringer. There’s like a simultaneous dropkick spot but Sasha makes contact and Lacey doesn’t, so only Lacey sells. Meteora in the ring, cover for 2. Lacey with a boot out of the corner. Whip reversed into the corner, Sasha charges, Lacey evades. Pulls Sasha out onthe apron, Sasha with a kick, blocked, Lacey trips her to the apron! Springing Dropkick takes Sasha to the floor, great looking spot! Slams Sasha’s face onto the floor, throws her away. Bayley charges from behind, Lacey teases the Women’s Right to make her collapse! Sasha attacks from behind, Lacey’s family is here because we still haven’t played on this stuff enough. Aaaaand double countout as Sasha continues attacking Lacey and berating her daughter.
Winner: Nobody
Sasha acts as the obvious gatekeeper to Bayley’s title and it’s clear that the long term goal here is to have Lacey challenge – and perhaps defeat – Bayley for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. So she needs to go through Sasha first, which clearly isn’t happening in a single impromptu match. I think that’s all fine, but man, does WWE love going to the well of heels going after a babyface’s family all of a sudden, it is all over SmackDown in particular right now.
