Ring of Honor are shaping up to have a better year than last already. They have offered talent like Matt Taven & Marty Scurll major money to stay with them, and have now successfully kept one of their best high flying talents on board. This is Bandido, one half of the dynamic tag team known as The Mexi-Bloods with Flamita.
Bandido is becoming one of professional wrestling best high fliers. He has already proven himself to be on the level of other luchadors like Dragon Lee & Pentagon Jr. Ring Of Honor being able to keep a talent like him for even just a bit longer secures them some great matches going forward, and possibly even someone who could be a major champion for the company.
Has Sinclair Finally Started Seriously Backing Ring Of Honor?
With all the rumors of high price contracts, you have to wonder if Ring Of Honor parent company Sinclair Broadcasting Group is finally ready to push Ring Of Honor as a major brand. They have been suffering from terrible TV coverage for years, just being thrown into random timeslots and channels to the point where no one knows when to actually watch Ring Of Honor. Their TV is also usually weeks behind what is happening in the company. It’s a fairly major factor to the indifference about Ring of Honor as a company.
Wrestling as a whole is riding a new wave of momentum, and I think Sinclair has realized this is the time to revive a dying brand. They are locking down talent like Scurll, Taven, RUSH, PCO, and now Bandido. If they are able to keep people like Brody King, Flip Gordan, and Jeff Cobb around, they could have a very solid roster to build off of. Combine this with mainstays like The Briscoes & Jay Lethal, and it won’t be impossible to see their brand flipped around in terms of reception.
Bandido Will Also Be Wrestling In CMLL & NJPW
Ring of Honor likely won’t be the only place you can see Bandido apply his craft, as ROH has partnerships with other companies around the world. Bandido can still show up in Mexico with CMLL, and I wouldn’t be shocked to see him return to NJPW for their Best of Super Juniors tournament later this year.
