Pro Wrestling Guerrilla World Champion and The Crash Champion, Bandido, will debut in Puerto Rico. The Mexican indy star will face El Cuervo de Puerto Rico on January 25. The latter holds the CWA Heavyweight Championship and will make his first defense.
The company announced the Bandido vs. El Cuervo de Puerto Rico as a surprise:
Yesterday we could hear the first parts of what was clearly a message addressed to the El Cuervo World Champion of Puerto Rico, the question that obviously remained once that message was leaked was who it was and #ElMostWanted #Bandido wasted no time in making his challenge come in his TOTALITY!
The 25 on the island? What will the Champion have to say?

Bandido is arguably one of the most exciting wrestlers in the independent wrestling scene. Although he’s signed with Ring of Honor, the PWG champion can still appear in other companies in the international scene. The debut of Bandido in CWA came to a surprise to many on the island. The last big star to come from ROH to Puerto Rico was Marty Scurll. Before Scurll, ROH stars like Lio Rush, Jay Lethal and Roderick Strong wrestled on the island. Almost all of the ROH stars have participated in CWA since 2016 (except for The Briscoes, the wrestled in WWC).
El Cuervo de Puerto Rico is the same talent that suffered the vicious attack with a cinder block by Angel o Demonio. He had a one-year recovery in which he doubted if he ever was going to wrestle again. But, in December, he decided to join CWA, a company of lesser fame that The Colons’ WWC and the main promotion on the island right now, WWL. El Cuervo de Puerto Rico won the CWA Heavyweight Championship and became the face of the company.
Bandido will surely bring more fans than usual for CWA. The company struggled in 2019 to regain the trust of the fans when they lost big investor money in January of last year. CWA restraint itself on bringing international stars, with Mecha Wolf 450 becoming the only talent to be flown to the company. Now in 2020, the company changed plans. They are now implementing the same strategy they used with Star Roger in 2016 when they brought Jay Lethal to the island.
