Since 2022, Ring of Honor has been owned by Tony Khan. Best known in professional wrestling for being the CEO of All Elite Wrestling, Khan’s purchase of ROH was a major deal.
After running a series of extremely successful PPV events in 2022 with the trilogy of matches between FTR & The Briscoes over the ROH World Tag Team Championships, Khan would reboot ROH’s weekly TV program.
Aired weekly on the HonorClub streaming service, the show has had some incredible matches – but struggles to find it’s own personality, especially when it’s shot in the same arena as AEW.
Tony Khan Feels Packing ROH With Collision Just Make Sense
During the early days of ROH on HonorClub, Khan would use Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida to tape the show – having used the venue for AEW Dark.
This gave the show it’s own identity originally, but it was quickly taken on the road for the sake of convenience. Now, it’s taped before AEW Collision on Saturdays, but Khan is still weighing his options.
When asked about the future of ROH tapings during the media scrum for Death Before Dishonor, Khan had the following to say.
“I’m very open to utilizing studio tapings, but I think there is a lot of benefits to having the ROH crew traveling with the Collision crew. You’re seeing people get opportunities, really rising stars like Action Andretti & Darius Martin. When you have great stars like that on ROH, they can get involved with Collision and it really helps everybody.
With Collision, I’m focused on that show, but I also have this great crew and am focused on ROH in terms of week-to-week-to-week long-term storytelling. On this pay-per-view you saw firsthand that you have long-term ideas that you think out, but things can change them.”
Death Before Dishonor was another successful PPV event for ROH, while their weekly TV is often lost in the shuffle. Do you think things need to change for ROH TV? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
