The story of #DIY has been one of the most dramatic in NXT history, with Tomasso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano being the best of friends and the most hated of rivals. They have rekindled their friendship over time, with them uniting a few times since their heartbreaking break up at NXT Takeover Chicago when Ciampa snapped and brutalized Gargano following losing in a ladder match to Authors of Pain.
Johnny Gargano Comes To Tomasso Ciampas Aid Against Undisputed Era
It’s no secret to anyone that Ciampa wants his NXT Championship back. It’s been held by Adam Cole for the last few months, and his natural skill & the numbers advantage that Undisputed Era brings him to the level of near undefeatable. Ciampa called out Undisputed Era on last nights NXT and they answered with a beatdown as they flexed their numbers advantage to dominate Ciampa, until Gargano came down to help try to even the odds.
While Ciampa hobbled together a team to defeat the faction at War Games, but he needs someone he can trust to watch his back as he tries to recapture the NXT Championship. Gargano & Ciampa have beat insane amounts of respect into each other, and Ciampa knows Gargano won’t turn on him to join the Undisputed Era due to his past wars with Adam Cole.
The worst Ciampa has to worry about with having Gargano watching his back, is that Johnny Wrestling will likely want the first shot when Ciampa regains the belt he calls “Goldie”.
What Is In The Future Of #DIY?
With them reuniting again, there is one team who isn’t waiting to try to get their shot at the duo. This is Trent Seven & Tyler Bate of NXT UK. They know this reunion could implode at any time, so they have challenged #DIY to a match for the upcoming Worlds Collide PPV. Fans around the world all want to see two of the greatest tag teams in the world today clash, and it very well could steal the show at Worlds Collide.
This will be a fantastic exhibition matchup, but the true matchup to look out for is #DIY taking the fight to Undisputed Era. We could see them attempt to unseat Fish & O’Reilly as tag team champions, breaking the iron grip Undisputed Era have on all the gold in NXT. If they lose any of their belts, they lose their confidence edge. This could also lead to Ciampa being the first man to hold the NXT Championship and NXT Tag Team Championship at the same time, history that would be well deserved.
