Following a fantastic triple threat match between Lio Rush, Tyler Breeze, and Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, we know another member of the Cruiserweight Championship match set for Worlds Collide. One contender isn’t enough for NXT Cruiserweight Champion Angel Garza, who will have three opponents at the event. Two contenders will be from NXT UK, but who was able to earn their way to a championship opportunity?
Isaiah “Swerve” Scott Earns Way To Worlds Collide
The former Shane Strickland, who is also known as Killshot from Lucha Underground was the man who would leave with a victory on this night. He would pin Tyler Breeze with the JML Driver to earn his way to his first championship chance since he joined NXT.
Swerve made his debut as part of the Breakout Tournament which would be won by Jordan Myles, a poor choice for a winner in hindsight. Swerve lost in the first round to Cameron Grimes, and has since been directionless in NXT. With this newfound focus on becoming NXT Cruiserweight Champion, he will be more prominent and get a proper showcase of his skills.
Outside of WWE, he was a decorated champion on the independent circuit, winning championships in major brands like Evolve, Combat Zone Wrestling, and Major League Wrestling. He came into NXT with a lot of hype behind him, not quite enough to be pushed as the new hottest free agent, but he certainly made a name for himself.
Could Swerve Get The Win?
It’s unclear who will represent NXT UK in this matchup, but Angel Garza will be hard to remove as Champion even in a match where he doesn’t have to be defeated to lose his championship. He is a crafty and talented performer with near unlimited potential. Many have compared him to a young Eddie Guerrero in terms of potential and charisma. Swerve winning would almost be an upset, but he would make an incredibly worthy champion.
Once we know the full field of this matchup, it will become much more clear who the most likely winner will be.
