Maxwell Jacob Freedman is better than you, and you know it. You also now know that he is finished working in Major League Wrestling (MLW) following his contract expiring. He was split in commitments between MLW & All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and now that his contract with MLW has concluded, he will be focusing on his time in AEW.
In MLW, he was part of The Dynasty alongside Richard Holliday & Alexander Hammerstone, who have been distancing themselves from MJF in preparation for this split. Alongside Richard Holliday, MJF is a former MLW World Tag Team Champion, having held the titles for 119 Days. They won the titles in a ladder match against The Hart Foundation (Brian Pillman Jr. & Teddy Hart), and would lose the titles to The Von Erichs (Marshall von Erich & Ross von Erich) in a Texas Tornado Tag Team match. Both are fantastic contests, and worth going out of your way to watch. MJF is also a former MLW Middleweight Champion, having held that title for 141 days.
Is This A Major Blow To MLW?
For a smaller company like MLW who is trying their best to compete in the modern world of professional wrestling, losing any talent hurts. When it’s someone with as much upside as MJF, it hurts even more. The Dynasty will be fine as a duo, and as a whole MLW will continue pushing forward. Given his major role in AEW, it isn’t exactly a surprise that he wouldn’t be sticking around in MLW much longer.
He has barely been involved with the company for months, showing up recently to have a few matches where he helped put over The Von Erics. Before that, he was not around for the company in nearly 3 months. MLW will be fine, and so will MJF.
What Is MJF Up To In AEW?
At Full Gear, MJF was in the corner of Cody for his AEW Championship Match with Chris Jericho. He threw in the towel and costed Cody the match, then kicked him in the nuts turning heel. Since then, he has been doing everything in his power to make Cody’s life hell, including bring in The Butcher & The Blade to attack Cody. He brought in Wardlow as his muscle, and Cody is doing whatever he can to get his hands on MJF. It has quickly become one of the best storylines in the company, and people are eager to see what happens next.
Do you think MLW losing MJF was a blow to them, or was his recent infrequency enough to not miss him on their programming? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
