Despite claiming to be the true Worlds Champion in wrestling, lately Nick Aldis has been shying away from defenses. He would once put the title on the line against anyone who felt they could beat him. On this show, he was always set to face Flip Gordan. Until Marty Scurll took the to podium and called Nick Aldis out however, it was a non-title match up.

Only after being called a coward, would Nick Aldis put the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on the line. As a condition, Marty Scurll was forced to leave the building, and Nick Aldis would not have his faction mates in ‘Strictly Business’ at ringside either. It would just be Nick Aldis and Flip Gordan, and the ensuing match was fantastic.

Nick Aldis Remains The NWA Champion

Nick Aldis lives and dies based on his status as NWA Champion, and he wasn’t about to see someone from Ring Of Honor like Flip Gordan step into his ring and take that status from him. In one of Nick Aldis’s best defenses to date, he went to war with The Mercencary of Villain Enterprises.

The key to victory was using his experience to slow down the quick high flying antics of Flip Gordan. Gordan was taking to the sky and using the ropes to maximum effectiveness, something which pulled the crowd to his side. The finish would see Nick Aldis surprise Flip Gordan with a quick reversal into a pinfall to retain, but the match was as close as one gets.

    More Fuel To The Fire

It is looking likely that at the upcoming Crockett Cup PPV, we will see a match from last years event. We saw Nick Aldis defeat Marty Scurll for the NWA Heavyweight Championship, and Marty has been clamoring for another shot. With Marty confirmed for the next set to tapings for NWA Powerrr, we could see him bring his friends from Villain Enterprises to wage war in NWA. It will be an interesting situation to follow, and if anyone can finally beat Nick Aldis, it will be Marty.

Do you think Nick Aldis is a good NWA World Heavyweight Champion? Who should be the one to finally end his reign? Let us know what you think in the comments down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
