World Wrestling Council (WWC) has been finding success on the island. The company, now headed by the WWE Superstars, Epico and Primo Colon, had a successful show on Saturday.
The company was able to gather a decent crowd in Manati, Puerto Rico. Primo Colon, the leading heel in the promotion, had a one-on-one match against former Universal Champion against El Leon Apolo. The latter returned in WWC Euphoria, where he saved his former ally, El Mesias.
World Wrestling League (the leading promotion in Puerto Rico) hasn’t returned, so WWC is doing its best to rise. Epico Colon as the Universal Champion has been refreshing, especially when you consider his consistent in defending the historic title. Names like Primo, Mecha Wolf 450, and Texano Jr. have fallen against the champion.
Another promising rise has been their young talents. Bellito, the former Puerto Rican champion, is arguably their prospect on the rise. Moreover, former CWA World Champion and WWL Americas Champion, Justin Dynamite, jumped ship and join WWC.
The Justin Dynamite experiment will be the big bet by WWC. The young star has twice quit a wrestling promotion that has invested big on him. His excuse is that work did not permit him to wrestle on Sundays for WWL (their new dates will be on Sunday). It seems that the company gave him a chance, but it’s uncertain how far he can go. Carlos Colon and the company are notorious for going slow with young talent. Bellito, who is of the same generation of Dynamite, has been in the company for three years he barely could hold to their mid-card title. Dynamite will need to stop and reconsider when he doesn’t get his way in WWC.

For the rest of the company, WWC has been able to have a solid roster. Mecha Wolf 450 and El Mesias are brought for the big shows. While guys like Apolo and Chicano, plus Primo and Epico are able to hold an interesting feud in the regular tapings. It’s still unknown how great will WWC continues to be. Their main rival starts on 2/8 with a big show. Still, one finds that the promotion has been able to counter the impressive roster that WWL had at the end of 2019. It is uncertain how long the Colons will keep managing WWC. They’re technically under WWE contracts, but that will be expiring in 2020. It seems that the Puerto Rican promotions are better off with the second generation stars than with their old owners.
