Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to see a Strap match for the WWE Universal Championship! WWE Royal Rumble 2020 rolls on with Daniel Bryan challenging the Fiend! And Bray comes out with his crazy Fiend Face title covering his crazy Fiend face! And… hey. Regular lights?! It can’t be, is this a trick?! Straps are on now…
Strap Match for the WWE Universal Championship: The Fiend Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Daniel Bryan
Bell rings, and the lights are still on!!! I can’t believe it! We finally get to actually see this match! And it’s… a strap match. Oh well! Bryan takes Fiend to the corner, Yes Kicks! Corner Ten Punches, but Fiend takes him down with a CRUNCHING POWERBOMB! Dayam!! And now the leather straps wailing on Bryan. Mean shots to the back and shoulder. You can hear the crack of the whip. Some red welts already, headbutt to Bryan. Shot to the ropes, Bryan with a kick off a back body drop attempt. Takes him out of the ring, baseball slide, tries a suicide dive but Fiend just throws him into the barricade in mid-air! Posts him! More cracks of the whip against the apron.
Throws Bryan into the ring for more whippage. Hoists him onto the top rope, crack across the back and that one got a big response! Bryan’s in the tree of woe now! Thrashing of his torso here, Bryan trying to pull himself up but can’t keep from being whipped. Hoists him up – massive Uranage!! Necksnap. And yet more cracks of the strap. Fiend now posing for heat, surprisingly getting it! Fiend hanging upside down to stare at Bryan. Bryan with some upkicks! Headbutt, into a Sister Abigail attempt! He wits a long while on it, Bryan escapes, roundhouse kick to the head! Buisaku Knee!!! Cover for a 2 count!
Bryan knocks him to the floor, goes up top – flying body press to the floor!!!
Raining down shots, Fiend grabs him by the head and throws him right into the steps! Tosses him into the ring but Bryan slides to the other side – uses the strap to pull him into the post! Once, twice, three times! Bryan runs off the apron for a flying knee, but the Fiend bounces right back for a massive lariato! Whipping continues! Bryan’s back is kind of a mess. Fiend strips off the announce table now. Throws him onto the table! Climbs up and lords above him. Bryan with an upkick between the legs! And a second and a third! And several more! DDT plants him atop the table!!
Bryan now bundling up the strap and the crowd likes it! And now he’s whipping the Fiend! Mostly across the shoulder to try and get some welts going! Yes Chants with every whip crack! Daniel Bryan chant as he sends him reeling off the table! Throws him into the ring! Bryan goes up top! Missile Dropkick! Kip-up! Yes Kicks commence, each one punctuated by a lash of the strap! And for once he nails the roundhouse kick to the head! Just so the Fiend can spring back up and beg for more punishment! Strap lash to the head and a second roundhouse kick to the face! Bryan grabs the wrist, stomps to the mask now! Yes Chants get louder as he does the pose!
Signalling for the knee! Charges, but FIEND CATCHES HIM IN MID AIR FOR A SISTER ABIGAIL!! NEARFALL!!
Fiend pulls Bryan up by the head… chop to the champion, and a smack right back drops Daniel! Fiend charges, Daniel Bryan with the boots up! Goes up top but Fiend with the Mandible Claw!!! Bryan stops this with a grapevine Triangle Choke! Pulls it over the top rope!! Both holds still in, Fiend pulls him into the ring and now choking him out with the Claw! Bryan is laid out now! Still trying to reverse, breaks the hold and is going for the LeBell Lock! Bryan using the strap!!! Into the rubber mouth to help pull him back for the LeBell Lock!!! Fiend rolls him over though and just raining down punches to break the hold!
Bray pulls him for another Abigail, Bryan turns it into a roll-up! Nearfall, Bryan ducks a shot, Buisakue Knee!!! Cover for a nearfall! Bryan is starting to fire up… but the Fiend is all the way to his feet before he can even stand! Bryan chops at him but gets caught in the Mandible Claw! He fights as much as he can but gets taken down and pinned, that’s that!
Winner: The Fiend Bray Wyatt
That was far and away the best Fiend match. What a difference turning off the damn red lights made. That and just letting them have a match and scaling down the cartooniness of the no selling. That was rad stuff, way above expectation.
Afterwards, the Fiend blacks out as per usual. We see a close-up of Bryan’s back and it is sliced up to hell. Standing O as he rolls out of the ring and is eventually carried away.
