The impossible is beginning to look possible in WWE. Following the dramatic returns of both Daniel Bryan & Edge, who were both thought to be retired, there are other fan favorites who people would love to see back in action. One of these is the longtime ally of Edge, and two time World Heavyweight Champion, Christian. Having won many championships and accolades throughout his career, it was rather anti-climactic he never got a proper send off. With people returning left and right, could Captain Charisma be next?
Why Did Christian Retire?
In the final match of his in-ring career, he would defeat Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus in 2014 to earn a shot at the Intercontinental Championship, then held by Big E. He would suffer a concussion in that match, and would move to pre-show panels as an analyst before being announced as retired a few months later on an episode of Monday Night RAW. For a longtime fan favorite, it is a shame he quietly retired.
He has not been a stranger since his retirement, showing up for editions of ‘The Peep Show’, being an analyst on many preshows, and hosting the Edge & Christian Show That Totally Reeks Of Awesomess. Edge & Christian also ran a weekly podcast together, but Edge recently stepped away as something had come up. This was of course in regards to Edge training for his WWE return.
One More Match
While it was concussion related injuries that cut Christians time short, that was the same reason that Daniel Bryan was retired from action in 2016. Considering Christian is a nostalgic figure, people would be excited to see him back. Even if we just got one more tag team match where he would team with long time friend & partner Edge, that would be enough closure for his career. They could have Edge & Christian defeat Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson in a matter of seconds, and that would be a better send off than what he originally got. No one would be mad if he came on an episode of Smackdown and finally used his banked shot at the Intercontinental Championship, as it has been all but forgotten as it has been held by Shinsuke Nakamura and barely defended. We just want one more match.
