WWE Monday Night Raw continues following that promo from Paul Heyman. We see Aleister Black WALKING~! backstage, clearly broken up after the gang assault from the OC earlier. He’s nevertheless going to face Erick Rowan. He staggers during his entrance, limping down the ramp. Rowan looks gleeful as Black struggles his way into the ring.
Erick Rowan vs. Aleister Black
Black starts with leg kicks, Rowan shoves him off, charges for a body block! Scoops him up for a body slam and poses for some heat. Knees driven into the back. Hits the ropes for a basement dropkick and again gloats to the crowd. Hoists him up, Black escapes out the back, low bridge sends Rowan to the floor. He scales the apron but a big boot takes him to the floor once more! Black tries to pursue but Rowan trips him onto the apron, pulls him out and throws him right into a leather chair in the timekeeper’s area! Commercial break, match continues in the inset. Black is struggling his way back to the ring, crawling across the floor. At the last second he dives into the ring but Rowan gets him with a series of elbow drops! Whip to the ropes, back elbow takes him down!
Kick to the face. Pulls him up to his feet and delivers a headbutt. Takes him into a corner and gets him with a chop to the chest. And a forearm to the chest as well. Power whip to the opposite corner, charging body block! Throws him to the corner again, Black tries to get a boot up but he gets him with a bodyblock anyway. Comes off the second rope with a clothesline for a 2 count! Black is taken to the apron, gets Rowan with a kick to the face! Back into the ring, series of push kicks to the face follows, Rowan tosses him aside. Uranage for a nearfall! Hooks him for a suplex, Black reverses with an inside cradle for 2. Back elbow off a charge, charging forearms fail to get Rowan off his feet. A leg sweep does it though, driving knee to the side of the head! Springboard Moonsault Press nailed! Knee lift to the face, running high knee for 2!
Puts a boot to his chin and is trying to set up for the Black Mass! But Rowan grabs the foot and spins it aside, wants the Iron Claw, Black breaks it but Rowan hoists him up for a Jackhammer for a nearfall! Short-Arm Clothesline for a 2 count! Rowan pulls Black to the outside and slams him into the barricade a couple of times! Rushes around ringside for a crossbody but Black sidesteps him, he slams into the steps and his cage goes flying! Black rolls into the ring, Rowan drags him back out though, headbutts him and starts clobbering him against the floor. Powerbombs him right into the post! Black is twitching after that one. Roawan throws him into the ring and then goes to check on the cage, put it back on it’s place atop the steps. Rowan barely makes it back in at 9 – rushes right into a Black Mass! Black staggers as Rowan fights to stay on his feet, a second Black Mass gets the win once again!

Fun finish! Really my only gripe with this match is that I don’t feel like the beatdown he got was really big enough for him to be selling as much as he was, but he did well with his selling nonetheless. On the stage he’s asked by Interviewer Girl #2 how he managed to pull out this victory. Black says rage! And next week, that rage will be AJ Styles’ burden! And just in case that’s too cryptic, next week, him and AJ will fight!
