The Broserweights are flying high after the biggest win of their young tag team career. They defeated the near unstoppable tandem of Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish at NXT Takeover Portland to claim the NXT Tag Team Championships. They would face off in their first match as champions as they faced the hard hitting duo of Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch, known as the Brit-Am Brawlers. Lorcan & Burch have come close in the past to becoming tag team champions, and would be a great test to make sure Broserweights are ready for the responsibilities of being champions.
Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne defeat Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch
In an incredibly hard hitting tag team encounter, the brawling duo of Burch & Lorcan would give the new tag team champions everything they could handle. There are few teams who can match the quick and hard hitting pace of the Brit-Am Brawlers. They enter every single match like it is the main event of Wrestlemania, a trait which makes their matches must see.
It was every bit as good a tag team match as Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Joaquin Wilde & Raul Mendoza, and it showed further evolution as a tag team for the reigning champions. After a back and forth match which showed both teams deserve to be on top of the tag team division in NXT.
The Broserweights scored the win soon after they landed the Riddle End combo finish on Lorcan. They went back into the crowd and celebrated with fans afterwards.
Who Will Challenge The Broserweights First?
With Undisputed Era wanting their gold back, and Grizzled Young Veterans joining NXT to avenge their loss in the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, there will be no rest for Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne. They are improving with every match, and considering they instantly had near perfect chemistry, someone will have to take the titles from them soon, lest they become unstoppable.
We will likely see some type of Number One contenders match happen soon, either between just Undisputed Era & Grizzled Young Veterans, or more teams. We could see a tag team Battle Royal to name new contenders, as they might want to save their major rivals for NXT Takeover Tampa.
