At NXT Takeover Portland, we saw former best friends turned bitter rivals clash, as Tegan Nox & Dakota Kai brutalized each other in a street fight. They would give each other all they could handle in their biggest spotlight yet, but we wouldn’t exactly get a clear winner at the end of the match.
This was due to outside interference from the debutting Texas powerhouse Raquel Gonzales. Gonzales would make her way down to the ring and throw Tegan Nox off the top turnbuckle into a table. Nox wouldn’t go through the table unfortunately, instead bouncing off in an awkward and dangerous fashion. That would be enough for a confused Kai to get the pinfall. She would later embrace her new enforcer, and felt she was no untouchable. Unlucky for her, NXT General Manager William Regal had other plans.
Dakota Kai & Tegan Nox Will Have A Steel Cage Match In Two Weeks
One of the key matches in NXT is the cage match. We have seen it used to settle many differences in the past, including Samoa Joe vs. Finn Balor, Tye Dillinger vs. Eric Young, Io Shirai vs. Shayna Baszler, and the last fall of Adam Cole vs. Johnny Gargano. It is designed to keep the competitors in, and interference out.
Tegan Nox already entered the street fight more angry than wrestling fans had ever seen her. Add in her losing at Takeover due to an outside force, and now knowing she gets Kai alone in a steel cage? She is going to be keen on tearing her old best friend apart.
Steel Cages haven’t been the most effective at keeping others out of the match in the past, so we will likely see Tegan Nox plan for Racquel Gonzales getting involved. She had aligned herself with Candice LeRae in the past, and Tenacious C shouldn’t be far off if Gonzales tries to get involved in this matchup.
With two weeks to prepare, both will be cooking up plans on how they will destroy the other in the unforgiving Steel Cage. If this will end their feud is yet to be seen, but it will certainly be another violent encounter between the two rivals. Who do you think will be able to escape the cage intact?
