A few weeks back, it was announced that the daughter of Dwanye ‘The Rock’ Johnson had joined the WWE performance center to begin her training. Needless to say, hopes for her are extremely high, as expected for the daughter of one of the biggest stars in wrestling history. Simone immediately drew some comparisons to Charlotte Flair, who was in her position in the early 2010’s, just starting out in NXT. Charlotte is now one of the top women’s wrestlers on the planet after a lot of hard work. Should Simone turn out the same way, we will have an incredible match of second generation talent on our hands.
Ric Flair Sees The Potential
Being the incredibly supportive father that he is, Ric Flair will always want to see his daughter succeed. He is even went as far as to say in the past that Charlotte Flair is not to be called ‘Ric Flair’s daughter’, with him wanting to be called ‘Charlotte Flairs father’ instead. Because of this, it comes as no surprise that he wants to see this match. Speaking with TMZ Sports, he had the following to say.
“I’m sure it’s crossed their mind,” Flair said. “They can see it down the road and it would be phenomenal. Simone is a beautiful girl, but there is a lot of training that is involved and there are a lot of great stars right now,” Flair responded. “Simone is coming, she will be there. If she has The Rock’s genetics she should do great.”
Simone Johnson vs. Charlotte Flair Won’t Happen Anytime Soon
This will not be a match we are likely to see in the next few years, as Simone has a long road ahead of her. Should she become a star like Charlotte, this could very well be a Wrestlemania main event worthy match-up. Depending on when it can happen, it could even involve Charlotte passing the torch to Simone to carry into the future of the women’s division. It has the potential to be great, but never forget that for every Charlotte Flair you get a few Taminas. Second generation won’t always mean an instant star.
