Sammy Guevara vs. Darby Allin
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Darby Allin in action and Sammy Guevara is the reason for that. Last month, Darby was in the midst of one of several Inner Circle brawls we’ve seen and came up on the short stick of it. Sammy took Darby’s own skateboard and used it to crush Darby’s windpipe. Since then, he’s sold that he can’t even speak and certainly hasn’t been cleared to wrestle. He was totally gone for a few weeks, only to return to a massive pop and run through pretty much the whole group with a board that had Sammy’s name on it.
In lieu of being able to speak, Darby has stolen Sammy’s gimmick of using signs to communicate during commercial insets. He’s threatened Sammy time and again, making it clear that he wanted this match at Revolution and promising to “hit him up”. When this was announced I was somewhat concerned it’d be put on the pre-show. The two are both pretty damn over even though neither really have marquee wins to their name and are technically positioned lower on the card than most everyone else on the main show. But I think it’s very much recognized what they have here, and this match definitely deserves it’s spot.
It’s also likely to be really fun. It’s the first time these two have ever faced off, and their styles really seem to suit one another. Darby’s also known for bringing some really inventive stuff into his matches, frequently involving bodybags and handcuffs and things of that nature, so one can only imagine what he’ll bring to the table on PPV here tonight. This could reasonably go either way, but I think Sammy can absorb losses and keep his heat really easily and he is definitely due for a beating here. So I’ll say Darby Allin over.
