As Wrestlemania 36 gets closer, even with the odd circumstances, it has become the talk of the wrestling world. One match that people are eager to experience is Becky Lynch vs. Shayna Baszler for the RAW Womens Championship. A year removed from defeating Ronda Rousey to claim the championship, Becky Lynch is facing one of her best friends in Shayna Baszler. After tearing through Elimination Chamber to earn her shot, disposing of even some of Lynch’s most fierce rivals in Asuka & Natalya, Shayna is set for victory. It won’t be easy, as The Man knows what she is up against.
Becky Lynch Can’t Deny Shayna Baszler
While on screen she might shrug off Shayna as just another challenger, Becky knows what she is up against. Speaking with Sports Illustrated, she praised Shayna.
“There is no denying what Shayna has done,” Lynch says. “She’s put in the work, she was a pioneer in women’s MMA, long before Ronda came along. She’s someone who went to the independents. She loves wrestling, I know she does. She’s not somebody who said, ‘Oh, that’s an easy way for me to be on TV. Let me try that because my other sport didn’t work out.’ She actually went and trained, did her time on the independent circuit, went to NXT, trained her ass off there, and she was the longest combined NXT Women’s Champion. She has put in the work, and there is no doubt about that.”
This Is The Challenge Lynch Needs
Despite having held the RAW Women’s Championship for a year, Lynch hasn’t been the hottest thing in wrestling since the build to Wrestlemania 35. Ronda was the right opponent for the man, and that same energy with any other opponent. She had great matches with Sasha Banks & Asuka, but clashes with Lacey Evans & Natalya didn’t capture the attention of fans. Shayna brings similar energy to that of Ronda, making this something that can fire Lynch back up.
With Roman Reigns out of action for Wrestlemania 36, we could see Shayna & Becky Lynch get a main event slot on the two night card. It would be the second year in a row for Lynch, and this match is becoming one that earned a main event spot. Do you think they deserve to main event?
