AEW Dynamite rolls on! If you’ll recall, Bea Priestley made moves towards Nyla Rose’s AEW Women’s World Championship last week. But being a Brit who spends most of her time in Japan, it seems the travel ban has likely kept her from appearing and we’re not sure when we’ll see her next. So we have ourselves a fatal four way No. 1 Contender’s match up next, Penelope Ford, Riho, Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander.
Riho vs. Penelope Ford vs. Hikaru Shida vs. Kris Statlander (Winner becomes No. 1 Contender to the AEW Women’s World Championship)
Everyone charges and looks for strikes, they fight to the outside, Riho comes off the top to get them all with a crossbody! Back in the ring, Statlander gets Riho with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker! Deadlifts her up and takes her into the corner. Shida suplexes Kris into her! Then covers Kris for a 2 count! Shida gets Riho up in a superplex attempt but Kris pulls Shida away to try a Powerbomb, Hikaru escapes, poke to the eye, inside cradle for a 2 count! Statlander with a lariat. Ford off the top with a headscissor that entirely misses but Kris flips anyway, Riho gets her with a top rope headscissor as well, Shida gets Kris with a big boot! Shida wants a double suplex on Riho and Ford but they reverse on her!
Ford and Riho stand toe-to-toe… exchanging forearms! Riho with a series of punches, low dropkick to Kip Sabian on the outside but Ford attacks her from behind. Throws her into the corner, handspring back elbow! Kip Sabian on the apron to interfere, Riho leaps off Ford’s back and gets him with a flying body press to the floor! Shida with a big high knee to Riho, Ford with a big boot, cover but Statlander breaks it up. Roundhouse to Shida, Inverted Suplex! Riho wants a Victory Roll but Statlander just tosses her onto Shida! Ford springs off the second rope for a Poison Rana to Statlander! Ford handsprings for another back elbow attempt but Shida counters with a standing dropkick! Falcon Arrow for a nearfall!! Shida hits the ropes, Shining Wizard for the victory!
Winner: Hikaru Shida
Aside from one super botch, some cool stuff there. Nice to know Shida will be getting her shoot soon.
Colt Cabana is being interviewed at ringside. He talks up the women’s match, notes how Penelope Ford lost and might be doing better if not for her boyfriend. Sabian overhears this and gets in his face, they have a little shoving match. Kip backs off.
