Yesterday, it was reported that Scott Steiner collapsed backstage at a TNA-themes taping on Impact Wrestling and was rushed to the hospital.
The news came through wrestling reporter Sean Ross’ twitter.

Reports indicate he showed no signs on illness before his collapse, and he was tended to by paramedics before being taken to the local hospital for treatment. PWInsider reported that he collapsed near them and that proximity played a role in his survival. His full condition wasn’t known at first, but Impact officials and wrestlers, including Tommy Dreamer, stayed with him in the hospital. Tommy Dreamer went to the hospital with him, and tweeted updates as they became available.

Scott Steiner made his name in the 1980s teaming with his brother, Rick Steiner, and developed into one of the best tag teams in the world as they wrestled primarily with NWA-WCW with some WWE thrown in for good measure.
But it wasn’t until he cut his long hair, dyed it blond, and donned his Big Papa Pump persona that his singles career exploded in the final days of WCW.
Never one to miss gaining an edge, his entrance was intimidating as it was fun to watch. There were few sights that were as fun and intimidating as seeing Big Papa Pump come down to the ring wearing a chainmail cowl, sunglasses, and ripped beyond belief.
One of the more interesting/entertaining moments of his career allegedly came when he joined the WWE in 2002.
Due to his weight gain and toned physique in the late 1990s caused the rise of allegations of steroid use, which he denied. He claimed it was because of his work with wrestling legend “The Body Guy” Nick Golfis.
When he joined the WWE a year after Vince McMahon bought WCW, Steiner claims he was asked to take a steroid test. He reportedly agreed, but with the condition that Triple H take one as well. According to him, the WWE didn’t follow through on either test.
Whether he’s telling the truth or not is anyone’s guess, but it’s just one more story to add to his career that saw multiple championships, including a single run as WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
