WWE Monday Night Raw rolls on with the first match of the night and the bell rings on this six-man tag team match between the team of Rey Mysterio, Aleister Black and Apollo Crews and Zelina Vega’s triumvirate of Andrade, Angel Garza and Austin Theory. Doesn’t seem like the Money In The Bank spots of the former are on the line like the promo suggested.
Rey Mysterio, Aleister Black & Apollo Crews vs. Andrade, Angel Garza & Austin Theory
Angel and Aleister start off, chain wrestling, Aleister with a deep arm drag into a Kimura of sorts. Garza reverses into a cover, Aleister with another big arm drag and keeps control. Pulls him into the babyface corner and Apollo tags in to keep hold. But Garza quickly escapes to tag in Austin Theory. Crews gets Theory with an immediate shoulder block, Delayed Vertical Suplex! Theory tries to fight back but Crews with a leap frog into a dropkick, series of arm drags and now Rey Mysterio tagging in. Forces Theory into a neutral corner, shoulder thrusts. Whip to the opposite corner, Theory reverses, Rey with a headscissor out of the corner sending him into the buckle for a quick 2 count.
Theory fights back, knee lift to the gut, front facelock, tag to Garza. Rey ducks a double shot, Wheelbarrow on Angel combined iwth an Arm Drag on Theory to send both men to the middle ropes! Rey wants a Double 619 but Andrade interrupts it! Rey gets Andrade to the middle ropes with a headscissor, but Andrade slips to the floor before the 619… Aleister Black and Apollo Crews with stereo topes take out everybody! Commercial break. When we come back, Austin Theory is beating on Aleister in the ring, driving him into the corner repeatedly before holding him down in a headlock. Aleister fights back up, but Austin transitions into facelocks and headlocks, snap suplex for a 1 count. Theory with a kick to the back, chinlock. Pulls him up, hoists him onto his shoulders to drop him facefirst onto the top buckle. Back suplex, nicely done, 2 count. Theory’s got very sound fundamentals.
Quick tags and isolation commence as they keep Aleister in the heel corner. Black fights out of a corner with a big boot, the classic enziguri leading into the hot tag to Rey Mysterio who runs wild for a bit, Angel tags in, Rey counters a double team by headscissoring Andrade out of the ring and getting Angel with a rana as well, Angel kicks out, Pop-Up into a kick to the chest, just tosses Rey to the floor. Commercial break. We come back to see Angel working Rey over in an abdominal stretch. Tag to Austin Theory who gets Rey with a military press, into a Standing Moonsault. Andrade tags in and works him over, Rey with a kick to the face, Springboard Moonsault Press, Andrade catches him out of the air but Rey turns it into a Tilt-A-Whirl DDT!
Rey dives to tag in Apollo Crews, Theory tags back in but gets run over by Crews, who drives him hard into the corner and nails him several shoulder blocks, gets Angel Garza with a spinebuster when he runs in! Shows a lot of strength with a straight-up powerslam on Theory, Andrade has to break it up. Theory counters a suplex into a Leghook Ushigoroshi for a nearfall! Crews gets thrown to the outside, match breaks down with everybody running in and hitting big moves, Andrade tags in and pulls Crews back into the ring, Feint Kick into a Spinning Elbow for a nearfall! Crews reverses the Hammerlock DDT, hoists Andrade up Back Suplex style but instead tosses him up into the air for a Sit-Out Powerbomb for the win! That looked absolutely incredible.
Winner: Apollo Crews
Great, great finish. If they just let Apollo do that all these years it wouldn’t be such a struggle to try and rebuild him now. Should be getting a US title match out of this too which will be interesting.
