AEW Dynamite rolls on. We have but our main event left, the TNT Championship Semi Final match between Lance Archer and Dustin Rhodes. On his way out, Archer is just battering around some poor guy who was hanging around in gorilla at the wrong time.
TNT Championship Semi-Finals: Dustin Rhodes vs. Lance Archer
Lock-up, Lance takes him to the corner and has to break. Dustin fights back, hits the ropes, Archer no sells a shoulder block. Archer returns a shoulder block and Dustin goes down in a heap! Dustin takes Archer to the outside though, senton off the apron to take him to the floor! Slides into the ring and waits for Archer to come back in. Archer back in, Dustin sends him to the ropes, tries his powerslam but Archer stands his ground! Clobbers him, hits the Pounce and Dustin has to roll to the floor! Archer rolls outside and grabs a chair! Dustin kicks it out of his hands though! Hoists the chair up but Archer kicks it right into his face! Archer yells at the camera with his gigantic ponytail coiled around his head. He starts stalking Brandi… we see a shot of Dustin and he’s bleeding! That last shot of the chair cut him.
Archer rams Dustin’s head into the apron and then the steps! Rolls him inside and he’s bleeding badly already! After a commercial, we see Harper just grinding his fingernails into the bleeding forehead of Dustin! His whole face is red now. Dustin fights his way up to his feet though, kick to the gut, charging kick to the face – but Archer just absorbs it and clotheslines him to the mat! Pounding punches to the face! Dustin has to roll to the outside, Archer slams Dustin’s face into the timekeeper’s table. Dustin desperately fighting back, chop exchange! Archer with a forearm drops him though! Archer looking for a countout. Dustin trying to roll into the ring but Archer kicks him right back out of the ring. Archer forces him back into the ring.
Dustin is crawling across the ring, Archer slams him facefirst into the top turnbuckle and then shows us the blood all over his hand! Dustin nails him from behind, but Archer still fighting back, kidney shot, Vertical Suplex sends him flying! Blood pouring from the face of Dustin. Half nelson cinched in. Gouges the eyes! But Dustin fights back, spreads his legs across the ropes and hits the Shattered Dreams! This is a No DQ match that just isn’t called one. And even the Shattered Dreams don’t take Archer down! Archer nails him, mounted punches! Archer pulls him to his feet, Short Arm Clothesline! Commercial break.
As we come back, Archer controlling Dustin with an arm wringer. Dustin fights his way to his feet, sends a few punches his way, there’s the Code Red – but he can’t make the cover! He’s too hurt to cover. Exchange of forearms! Dustin ducks a few shots, big lariat! Kick to the gut, Dustin Uppercut! Hits the ropes, Lance dodges the bulldog and hits the ropes for another Pounce but Dustin counters with the Snap Powerslam! Dustin with the Corner Ten Punches! Archer counters with a powerbomb attempt, Dustin fights his way out, escapes a Chokeslam as well and hits the Cross-Rhodes! But Archer kicks out at 1?! Dustin up top, leaps at Archer who catches him out of the air with a Chokeslam for a nearfall!! Archer grabs the wrist and here’s the big rope walk! But instead of Old School he springs into a Moonsault!! Holy hell! Nearfall!!
Now he wants the Blackout, Dustin escapes, shoots him to the ropes and hits a big boot, but Archer chokeslams him, Dustin kicks out at 2 and backslides him for a nearfall! Archer with a big boot of his own lays Dustin out! Now Lance is made. He rips the top turnbuckle pad off with a single motion! Now he slams Dustin’s face right into the exposed turnbuckle! Dustin falls and he looks to be out… QT Marshall wants to throw in the towel but Cody appears to stop him! Archer pulls Dustin away from them and tosses the towel at his friends! Slams his head into the mat a few times and covers him, locking eyes with Cody as he gets the three.
Winner: Lance Archer
I knew Lance Archer was something else but man is he something else! If not for his age he’d be an easy pick for a future world champion. Even that might not stop him depending on how long he can still do the things he does.
