We get a behind the scenes on Britt Baker’s role model segments where we meet her make-up artist Rebel, who Britt seems to think is named Reba. She cuts her off mid-interview to demand that she refer to her as the Role Model Dr. Britt Baker. Reba is forced to tell us with a smile that it’s an honor for her to work with Britt and has to grit her teeth to say it’s an honor to work with a role model. Britt says that some people just can’t be a role model. Says unless you’re a doctor you shouldn’t wear glasses and pretend to be smart as it’s just not cute. We see a picture of Tony Schiavone as she says this. Britt says fat people can’t be role models either and we see another shot of Tony, we outright see a photoshop job in progress to alter his picture and make him look slimmer. Lastly she says people with a snaggletooth should hide them and yep another shot of Tony. Back to the arena, we get Shawn Spears coming out for a match with Baron Black.
Shawn Spears vs. Baron Black
Black with a quick roll-up for 2 and he makes sure Spears knows how close that was. Spears takes him into the corner with a big knife edge chop and then he shakes a little bit to mock him. Black with several chops in response, hits the ropes, Spears surprises him with a Spinebuster! Mounts him and pounds him with elbows! Stomp to the face and Spears just tosses a pad at him! Vertical Suplex brings him down hard and Spears gives himself some applause. Puts a foot on his chest and flexes as he pins him Jericho-style, doesn’t work of course. Pulls him, Black escapes off of a suplex, big european uppercut, wicked knife edge chop! Black charges, Spears with a boot up, and there’s the C4! Spears doesn’t pin though, instead he locks him into the Sharpshooter! This earns the quick submission!
Winner: Shawn Spears
As a Canadian wrestler, Shawn Spears was obligated to win with a Sharpshooter at some point in his life so it’s nice to see him get that done. I also kind of appreciate this means of squash matches. Instead of totally dominating, they make a statement by beating them with stuff they wouldn’t pin other people with. Getting over secondary finishers is never a bad thing.
