In wrestling, it has become popular to compare the weirder superstars in the bunch to Jeff Hardy. Jeff Hardy defined a generation of odd charisma and high flying daredevil stunts, much like Darby Allin might do for the new generation of wrestlers. Since he took Cody Rhodes to a time limit draw at AEW Fight For The Fallen, fans have been captivated by Allin. Not much is known about him outside the ring, but one thing fans could know is that he might be the first ever TNT Champion.
He Knows He Can Win His First Round Match
In the first round, Darby Allin will have Inner Circle member Sammy Guevara across the ring for them. While he likely thought he was done with Guevara after defeating him at AEW Revolution. This will not be the case, and while he has beaten Sammy, he will be better scouted this time around. Sammy knows his quirks and tricks in the ring now, and might recognize that going for a fast paced match with Darby is not the way to get the job done. We saw a slower paced Sammy in his match with Kenny Omega, and that could be the case in this coming match with Darby. However, Darby is a smart man and will be ready for new tricks and old alike.
Getting past his bracket of Sammy & the winner of Cody vs. Spears would get him potential fresh matches against people like Dustin Rhodes or Lance Archer, two huge matches for AEW. It won’t be easy to get to the finals, but if he does the ensuing match should be something special.
Darby Allin Is One Win From Stardom
Ever since he got a chance to contend for the AEW Championship against Chris Jericho, and lost only due to having his hands cuffed behind his back, people knew Darby was going to be something special. He has come up short in major matches to this point, but has taken the best of the best in AEW to the limit, and is building up a following with fans. You will see fans dressed as him in the stands, and that shows how popular he has become. The TNT Championship would be in good hands, and very few could complain about Darby as the first champion.
