WWE Monday Night Raw is rolling on tonight. With the show but minutes away, you can as always expect in-depth coverage from us here at the Overtimer! Let’s get rolling with the WWE Monday Night Raw Preview!
Drew McIntyre to take on Angel Garza
The WWE Champion Drew McIntyre is in action tonight. Last week, he defeated US Champ Andrade in the main event, only to be assaulted by Seth Rollins afterwards. But Seth didn’t really do it on his own, as the attack was set up by a chop block from one of Andrade’s buddies, Angel Garza. This was interesting to me as it seemed as though Seth might’ve already found a replacement stable after his previous grouping seemed to go up in smoke right before WrestleMania. Whether Seth is involved with Zelina Vega’s trio or it’s pure coincidence, McIntyre is taking on another of them tonight whilst Seth waits in the wings… McIntyre over.
Men’s Money In The Bank Qualifiers
Over the weekend it was revealed that this year’s Money In The Bank would be nothing like the norm. The usual six-or-so person ladder match has been eschewed in favor of a more wacky idea. The participants will be starting from the bottom of WWE Headquarters and working their way to the top. That being the case, I feel like the whole format is in upheavel. I would’ve called this the Raw half of the Men’s MITB match but for something like this, there’s actually no reason to restrict it to six people. The way I imagine it, this thing could have any number of wrestlers involved. There’s really no way to predict how it’ll be done though.
That said, we do have standard qualifying matches even so, since they were announced last week. And they’re all a bunch of fresh and potentially very good match-ups too! Aleister Black will be facing off with the newcomer Austin Theory. An unusual bout sees Apollo Crews go up against MVP. And in the most exciting qualifying bout on paper, Rey Mysterio takes on Buddy Murphy!
High on Theory though they may be, I have no reason to think Black won’t qualify. Whatever form MITB was going to take, Aleister was definitely going to be involved this year. Apollo Crews has treaded water basically since the moment he signed with WWE but he seems to be the most recent Paul Heyman project and that’s atleast enough to beat MVP, who is by all rights just here to get beaten up a bunch. Mysterio/Murphy is the hardest one to call and should also be a pretty easy MOTN… but Rey is the safer pick. So, Black, Crews and Mysterio over. That is three straight babyface wins though which is quite unlike WWE… but on a case-by-case, I think it makes sense.
