While he might not be the hottest free agent on the market at the moment, it is hard to deny that Ricky Starks is going to become a star wherever he lands next. He left the National Wrestling Alliance on good terms earlier this year, after having a brief run as NWA Television Champion, having won the title by winning a one night tournament at NWA Hard Times, last beating Trevor Murdoch to become champion. Starks has all the tools to be a star in wrestling, from his good looks, loads of charisma, and the ability to go with the best of them in the ring. With him having so much promise, would it make sense for him to join another fast rising star in MJF should he join All Elite Wrestling?
MJF & Ricky Starks Could Be The Cockiest Tag Team Around
Beyond being young up and coming stars in wrestling, MJF & Ricky Starks also both bring an undeniable cocky charisma to the ring. While Starks played the role of a babyface during his time in the National Wrestling Alliance, he has the look of a natural heel. Bringing him into AEW as another ally of MJF to go alongside Wardlow would only help to strengthen his odds of becoming a champion would make sense. They could even kickstart this alliance by having Starks debut against Cody Rhodes, impressing MJF as he beats down MJF’s biggest rival. While MJF is focused on becoming a singles champion, likely gunning for the AEW Championship after Brian Cage gets his shot at Fyter Fest, tag team goal could also be on his radar as a way to prove he is better than The Elite. A man like Ricky Starks would be his perfect partner.
Egos Would Explode Quickly
The only downside to a team like Starks & MJF would be that they would almost certainly break down due to their giant egos. This would put a time limit on how long they could last, likely only around three or so weeks before they would implode. A classic angle in the making, we could see Starks & MJF clash, giving fans something simple to enjoy from two of the best young names in wrestling today. It would be an easy way to establish Starks as a top name fairly quickly, while giving MJF another feud to win on his climb to the top of AEW.
Of course, this is only pure speculation. Ricky Starks is a free agent, and could sign to any major company. We could see him go to WWE as part of NXT, join a company like Major League Wrestling or Impact Wrestling, or even actually see him join AEW. Where would you want to see Ricky Starks show up?
