One of the best factions in WWE history has been The New Day. Now on their ninth tag team title reign, they also hold the record for the longest reign in WWE history. While part of this group, Kofi Kingston was even able to become WWE Champion at Wrestlemania 35. They are have the times of their lives, but despite this the pressure for the expected motions of wrestling exist. Factions don’t stay perfect forever, there must always be trouble in paradise. This can’t possibly change with The New Day, right?
Would The New Day Ever Break Up, And Would It Be Worth It?
While speaking on the My Mom’s Basement podcast, Big E would speak on the scenerio where The New Day splits up. “I get why fans want a breakup. It’s something new. But if you look at the history of breakups, tell me one, besides The Shield — they were always designed to break into individual stars — I can’t think of a single break up that benefited all members. Rusev Day was so hot, getting great reactions on a nightly basis. They break up, Aiden turns on Rusev, and then Aiden is off TV two or three weeks later. I don’t even think they had a big pay-per-view match. I don’t think Rusev’s career benefited from it either. The same thing about the Wyatt’s. The chances that all three of us would break up and have great runs, I find it to be very slim. Also, we’re having so much fun as a group. If you break us up, I’m going to go back to being serious?”
The New Day has already proven that one of their members can go on to achieve singles success without the group collapsing. People are keen on a main event singles run from Big E, and there is no reason why we could never get this while The New Day exists. If anything, they have a better chance to have good singles runs with their best friends backing them up.
