Another episode of AEW Dynamite is on tap here this evening and boy is there a lot to talk about for this one. The new No. 1 Contender to the AEW World Championship – and current holder of the belt itself after stealing it – Brodie Lee faces off with his longest standing doubter Christopher Daniels tonight. You can expect the same coverage of this show as always, which means in-depth results and recaps, plus a preview of everything that’s on tap tonight. Like I said, lot to discuss so let’s get into it!
Brodie Lee vs. Christopher Daniels
I’m glad that even though Brodie Lee has moved on to a new big time feud, the old issues with SCU were not dropped. SCU has been on the bad side of the Dark Order for roughly half a year now, their issues actually date back to the final Dynamite of 2019 where the faction laid waste to both them and the Young Bucks after a tag team title match. That feels like a long, long time ago now! As we ushered into 2020, the Dark Order began speaking more and more about their mysterious, shadowy leader the Exalted One. There was much speculation as to who it could possibly be, but as they milked the mystery for all it was worth, Christopher Daniels spoke up with his own thought – that there IS no Exalted One.
He championed that cause for a while but eventually the fated day came where the truth was revealed. Brodie Lee, aka WWE’s Luke Harper made an immediate mark on AEW, threatening the world in a vignette on the tron before materializing in the ring to lay out Daniels right there on the spot. That was back in March. Still Brodie and Daniels have yet to square off – that is until tonight. In fact, this looks to be Brodie’s first real, non-squash match since arriving in AEW.
Honestly he probably needed the chance to get off some ringrust, given the long spans of time where he was forced to the sidelines elsewhere. But tonight, he finally goes up against a very respected veteran in what is, amazingly, a first-time-ever encounter! I can’t imagine there’s a lot of people out there that Christopher Daniels has never wrestled but he’ll be in there with Brodie for the first time. Given that Lee’s got a world title match to look forward to, it should surprise no one that Brodie Lee is going over tonight.
