Another episode of AEW Dynamite is on tap here this evening and boy is there a lot to talk about for this one. It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen Santana and Ortiz in action but tonight, Proud-N-Powerful square off with Kenny Omega and Matt Hardy! Here at the Overtimer, you can expect the same coverage of this show as always, which means in-depth results and recaps, plus a preview of everything that’s on tap tonight. Like I said, lot to discuss so let’s get into it!
Kenny Omega & Matt Hardy vs. Proud-N-Powerful (Santana & Ortiz)
Last week, we saw Kenny Omega and Matt Hardy join forces in a pretty unforgettable main event. They took on the leader of the Inner Circle Chris Jericho and his right-hand-man Sammy Guevara in a wild street fight that went sprawling all across the Daily’s Place, even encroaching upon the TIAA Bank Field. This allowed for an incredible closing visual with the Inner Circle posing together as the name of the group flashed up on the scoreboard hundreds of yards away behind them.
But that happened for a reason. Jake Hager was there to back them up, as were Santana and Ortiz who made their first live appearances in quite a while to run in on the match in the later stages. Thanks to them, Chris Jericho and Sammy Guevara got a major victory in their ongoing war with the Elite. As a result of that run-in, we now have this match set tonight. Kenny and Matt team up once more to face Santana and Ortiz.
Proud-N-Powerful are one of my favorite tag teams going. They have so much character and their ring style is so different from what I’m used to seeing. Their match with the Young Bucks before was truly killer and I’ve actually been a bit sad to see them take something of a backseat in the division. Though I can assume they were set to get some momentum back before all this mess started, all the same they were stalling a little before the Pandemic, atleast as a tag team. They still impressed in singles matches with Jon Moxley heading into Revolution so there was that.
That said, this one is not their match to win. I think the Elite could very much use a victory in this feud right about now. Kenny Omega and Matt Hardy to get the victory.
