WWE Friday Night SmackDown’s first match is up now as King Corbin and Daniel Bryan face off, the bell rings right as we come back from break!
Daniel Bryan vs. King Corbin
Lock-up, Bryan with a leg kick. Corbin takes Bryan to the corner and pummels him with solid punches, has to make the break. Bryan takes him down with a single leg but can’t quite roll him onto his back, Corbin fights his way up and nails a shoulder tackle. Corbin boasts, before hitting the ropes only to be flipped over with a low dropkick to the shins! Bryan continues the leg kicks, wanting to chop down the big man. Dragon Screw Legwhip! And Bryan keeps ahold of the leg on the mat, sending a few furious kicks to his hips, Kneebar cinched in but Corbin grabs the rope before he can do too much damage. Still he comes up gingerly. Corbin trying to keep his distance from the leg kicks, gets Bryan into a Front Facelock onto the mat but Bryan reverses into a Cloverleaf! From there we get a Knee Breaker, and yet more kicks! Very focused on that leg.
Corbin catches a kick, trips him to the mat, mounted punches! Straight right to the mouth, stomp to the face! Tells Bryan he’s a disappointment just like his coach and forearms him in the face. Camel Clutch, blows to the chest. Bryan fights his way out and kicks him into the corner, roundhouse kicks to the chest, has to be separated by the ref, Corbin with a double palm thrust to the gut! Rams his head into the top turnbuckle! Takes him up top, Bryan trying to fight back but a right hand sends Bryan barreling to the floor! And Corbin tosses Bryan into the ringpost as we go to commercial break! Good match thus far.
As we come back, Corbin has Bryan tied up in the ropes and is pummeling him with body shots. Has to back off, tries for a powerbomb but Bryan with a Crucifix for 2, Corbin with a knee to the gut, power whip sends Bryan HARD into the buckle! Bryan sidesteps a charge but Corbin turns it into the Ring Around The Ringpost for a nearfall! Corbin pulling at the hair of Bryan, Daniel tries to fight back but Corbin catches him with a knee to the face! Takes him into the corner, uses the top rope to torture the left arm of Bryan! That was the arm he sent into the post. Whip to the corner, Bryan floats over, Corbin tries Ring Around The Ringpost again but Bryan surprises him with a suicide dive! Awesome spot.
Back in the ring, Missile Dropkick! Leg kicks again, Corbin catches one but Bryan rolls through into an Ankle Lock! Corbin escapes but Bryan stomps his ankle, roundhouse kick to the head! Corbin has to kick out several times. Bryan with a charging dropkick in the corner, tries a second one but Corbin hoists him up into a Deep Six mid-charge for a nearfall! Bryan reverses into another Single Leg Grapvine, Bryan escapes to the apron but Bryan pursues him and stomps him against the apron! Corbin rolls to the floor and Bryan chases him btu Corbin tosses a ladder right into his face and there’s the bell.
Winner: Daniel Bryan (by DQ)
I’m okay with this. Pretty good stuff and not a great time for either to lose. Afterwards Corbin takes the ladder into the ring and tries an End of Days on the ladder but Bryan reverses it into a Yes Lock onto the steel! But Shinsuke Nakamura attacks from behind! Cesaro is here too, drives the ladder into Bryan’s chest and sends him out of the ring! They bring him onto the stage and Corbin tosses him off of the stage through a bunch of stood up ladders, rough landing! Heels stand tall.
