The death of Owen Hart is one of the most tragic events in the history of wrestling. One of the best workers in the world, he was working a superhero gimmick known as The Blue Blazer, and was going to lowered from the rafters into the ring, but fall shortly above in comedic fashion. This is a stunt that had been done safely in the past, but the quick release mechanism on his harness accidently triggered early, and he fell. Hart fell 78 feet, landing chest-first on the top rope. He was prounced dead in the ring.
Since that day, his widow Martha Hart has refused to allow WWE to place him in the Hall Of Fame. Fans were shocked when a DVD set was released of his career in WWE, as that was the only time since his death that anything with his branding was sold. Martha Hart is going to be releasing some t-shirts based on Owens time in NJPW, and has also revealed why she won’t let WWE have Owen in their Hall Of Fame.
Martha Hart Says The WWE Hall Of Fame Doesn’t Exist
During an interview with CBS Sports, Hart would speak on her main issue with the WWE Hall Of Fame. “There’s always been this talk that, ‘Oh, we want to put Owen in the Hall of Fame,'” Hart said. “Their Hall of Fame? They don’t even have a Hallway of Fame. It doesn’t exist. There’s nothing. It’s a fake entity. There’s nothing real or tangible. It’s just an event they have to make money. They put it on TV and have a celebration, and it’s just so ridiculous. I would never even entertain it. It’s garbage.”
Martha Hart is rightfully still bitter about this incident, between the stunt being unsafe and WWE keeping the show going. Even if WWE had a physical location for their Hall Of Fame, it would unlikely to see him entered. Another person who made a similar point in the past about the WWE Hall Of Fame, that being Scott Steiner. Do you think Martha Hart has a point about the WWE Hall Of Fame?
