Matt Riddle Set For Smackdown Live Debut This Week?

On NXT, there is one man that above all others is ready for prime time. This is Matt Riddle, the ex-MMA fighter turned pro wrestling expert. His tenure through NXT lead him to winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic alongside Pete Dunne, as well as winning the NXT Tag Team Championships. He also previously faced off for the NXT North American & NXT Championships to no success. Despite this, he is far and beyond one of the most popular stars on the black & gold brand, but that will be changing very good. Will Matt Riddle look as good in Blue & White?

Matt Riddle Set To Join Smackdown Live For The Next Tapings

Reports from the Wrestling Observers own Dave Meltzer indicate that Matt Riddle has been chosen to come up from NXT, with this Friday being the potential debut date. Riddle is a man who knows his own worth, recently commenting that he could become a star anywhere in the world. While it is unknown if his contract is up for renewal soon or not, WWE knows this is true their own self. If they want him to stick around and not go to a place like AEW or New Japan Pro Wrestling, they need to start treating him like a bigger star. He has outgrown NXT, and if he is never to be NXT Champion, it makes sense for him to move on.

Will His Match With Timothy Thatcher Be His End In NXT?

This Wednesday on NXT, the marquee match is a cage match that needs to be won by KO or Knockout. Matt Riddle will be facing his short lived tag team partner of Timothy Thatcher, with Kurt Angle as the special guest referee. It will be an incredible contest, much like their last clash two weeks ago, but it could be Riddles last for the brand. Thatcher is able to fill a similar role of the hard hitting technical machine, just without the cocky charisma that Matt Riddle practically sweats. The torch very well could be passed to Thatcher in this match, as Riddle reaches the main roster and likely enters the hunt for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, which is currently vacant.

Do you think Matt Riddle will thrive on Smackdown Live, or would it be smarter to keep him down in NXT for a while longer? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.

A wrestling fan practically since birth, who has been hooked since he got his first toy wrestling ring for Christmas as a child. Since getting access to the internet, he's watched more wrestling than he could ever remember from all around the world. It's hard to keep track of what happens in the wild world of professional wrestling, but he always tries to stay up to date. Note: No relation to Tully Blanchard of Four Horsemen fame (probably).
