AEW Dynamite rolls on. We get a video from MJF saying there’s a lot of younger talent saying they’re the next big thing even though they’re almost 30 but that’s cool. Says the secret is that he’s the guy but nobody wants to admit it because they all hate his guts. So they all want to quote his illustrious mentor and move the goalposts. Says everyone likes to compare him to the all-time legends. ‘MJF is great but he’s no Flair/Rock/Piper’. Says that comes from insecurity. That 24-year-old ‘kid’ is a star and he’s got more ‘it’ in his pinky than anyone else has in their body. And he’s not Flair, Rock or Piper, he’s something the business has never seen before. That’s why he can afford to sit back and watch some television to see some oldschool wrestling. He stands up and makes some stooges move the chair behind him to make it a throne. He feigns an injury for a moment but says ‘psych’, he’s injury-free and next week we’ll be seeing him on TNT. Kinda thought they were gonna have him here tonight but it’s merely an announcement of such. Well no, he is in the crowd again so he is here live, that’s all that was advertised.
We then see a promo from Shawn Spears where he talks about how Dustin Rhodes’ career is now over after what Lance Archer did to him in their match. He mentions how Cody left his brother to die against Archer when he could’ve and should’ve thrown the towel in. Says he doesn’t blame Dustin for fighting on or even Archer for what he did. But he does blame Cody. Mentions that he has a brother of his own and if he were in trouble, he would do anything to help him. Says he doesn’t care about what happens to either Cody or Dustin but as someone with a brother himself, he couldn’t live with that. But Cody clearly has proven that he has. In the arena, we get a promo from MJF and Shawn Spears where they join together in ripping on Cody. MJF says he’s not only cleared but he’s over-healed. Tony Schiavone mentions that he’s booked to make his return to the ring next week… but he’s also been booked against Jungleboy at Double or Nothing, and MJF has an actual spittake reaction at this, he is visibly upset!
