AEW Dark continues. Now we have Orange Cassidy in a rare singles match going up against Jason Cade. As Cade comes out, Excalibur takes the time to talk up what a dirtbag he is, how everyone is trying to help guide him but he can’t stop himself from being a d-bag. Calls him profoundly unpleasant to be around. Meanwhile as Orange Cassidy emerged, Chuck Taylor and Trent Baretta were with him wielding Orange Cassidy beach towels.
Orange Cassidy vs. Jason Cade
Cassidy slowly pulls up his elbow pad. Raises the hands up, slowwwly starts putting his hands in his pockets but Jason Cade stops him. Body shot, side headlock. Cassidy steps on the back of the knee to send him down, escapes into a top wristlock. As he controls one hand, he puts the opposite hand in his pocket. Cade is acting all upset about this. He pulls Cassidy’s sunglasses off and tosses them aside. Cassidy wants to put the other hand in his pocket but Cade goes to block it only to get flipped onto his back with an arm wringer. Now both hands in the pockets and Cassidy is, per his standards, angry. Cassidy hits the ropes, hands-in-the-pockets arm drag, kick to the back of the leg, chest-to-chest cover for a zero count. Shotgun Dropkick. Trent has Orange’s sunglasses and puts them onto his face.
Cade charges, Cassidy ducks a clothesline, full nelson transition into a snapmare. And there’s the thumb up in the face of Cade. Cade grabs the hand and forces a thumbs down. Cassidy slips his own sunglasses off now and SEETHES. Cade with a back elbow to the face, and now a leaping knee strike! Pulls Cassidy to his feet, but he reverses into a front russian legsweep cradle, just stacking him up in this position and that’s the match.
Winner: Orange Cassidy
That’s how Cassidy fights when he’s angry. Orange takes the time to put his shirt and jacket back on after the match and now Jason Cade is throwing a temper tantrum, just battering the mat and flailing around just like Christian back in the early 2000s.
I probably wouldn’t have Cassidy out there without crowds, but he’s funny enough for me personally that it doesn’t really matter too much. The main appeal is definitely in how crazy people go over Literally Nothing though.
