WWE SmackDown rolls on and now we have ourselves a battle royal to determine who will face Daniel Bryan for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. It includes Sheamus, King Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Jey Uso, Shorty G, Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura, Lince Dorado, Gran Metalik and Drew Gulak.
Battle Royal For A Slot In The IC Title Tournament
The battle royal begins! Gran Metalik walks across a pair of shoulders to splash Shinsuke! Cesaro trying to dump Lince, fails on two attempts. Gulak is trying to guillotine Shinsuke over the top rope but Cesaro makes the save. Dolph with his first of I’m sure many near-misses when Metalik tries to dump him. Gulak attempting to throw Cesaro over. Sheamus for some reason finds himself yelling at Michael Cole amongst all the brawling and almost gets tossed because of it. Lince gets taken to the apron, roundhouse kick to the face but Corbin prevents a springboard with a right hand that sends him to the floor! Lince Dorado has been eliminated. Gulak tries to knock Corbin off the apron but he blocks it, hot shots him and then pulls him over the top for the elimination! Drew Gulak has been eliminated.
Shinsuke charges, Shorty G evades him and sends him to the corner! Cesaro wants to dump Jey Uso but he survives. Corbin and Ziggler double team Gran Metalik but he stops that with a handspring back elbow to both! He leaps off the bottom rope but gets caught out of the air with a Ziggler Superkick, Corbin grabs him and chucks him to the floor! Gran Metalik has been eliminated. Dolph then tries the double cross elimination but Corbin spots him and Dolph plays it off like a joke. Corbin acts like he believes him but then as soon as he turns around, he throws him over the top. Dolph Ziggler has been eliminated. But moments later, Corbin gets dumped himself! King Corbin is now eliminated! Commercial break.
As we come back, big moves have commenced. Cesaro tries to toss Shorty G but he makes it to the apron, headlocks him and slowwwly manages to wrestle him to the floor! Cesaro has been eliminated! That was neat. Nakamura fighting with Shorty G now. Shorty ducks both the first kick and the Dragon Whip attempt, grabs him, overhead belly to belly sends him over the top rope! Shinsuke Nakamura has been eliminated. As the officials are dealing with Nakamura, Cesaro comes back in to throw Shorty G out and they assume he was fairly eliminated. Shorty G has been eliminated. This leaves Sheamus and Jey Uso. Sheamus tries to throw him, Jey fights back with a roundhouse kick. Goes up top, double axe handle gets caught but he throws him to the ropes, big clothesline really looks like it’s gonna get him to the floor but Sheamus hangs on! Nicely done. They fight on the apron, Jey with a chop, superkick attempted but Sheamus blocks it and shoves him into the ringpost! Brogue Kick sends Jey to the floor and that is that.
Winner: Sheamus
Basically every WWE battle royal you’ve ever seen. Which isn’t to say bad just not particularly original.
