WWE Friday Night SmackDown rolls on. We get a shot of Mandy Rose being checked on by a trainer and she’s got a pretty wicked welt on her leg after Sonya Deville’s assault on her just now. Probably legit considering that’s not really something she targeted, think it ended up getting driven into the edge of the steps or something. Otis is there with her and he’s concerned but she says she’ll be okay and tells him to go get ready. Reluctantly Otis leaves and as he steps outside, Dolph Ziggler is there. He seems to quite genuinely ask if Mandy is okay. Otis of course is not happy to see him, in fact he’s shaking with rage and Dolph just leaves. Then, out come the New Day for their match with the Forgotten Sons. And after the Sons make their entrance, the Miz and John Morrison make their way out. Also it seems that the Preview graphic was misleading, it’s Cutler and Blake in the ring after all. It made it look like Ryker was going to be involved and they didn’t specify on WWE.com so that was my assumption.
The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Big E) vs. The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Blake & Steve Cutler) w/ Jaxson Ryker
The heels quickly get the advantage and start pummeling Kofi Kingston in the corner. Kofi reverses Blake into the corner, charging dropkick to the face! Pulls him in for a cover for 2. Blake bursts out of the corner with a clothesline, tag to Cutler, double team until Kofi sends Cutler out of the ring with a back body drop, tag to Big E who starts tossing Blake around, two overhead belly to bellies leading to a regular belly to belly! On the outside, E gets Cutler with a back body drop onto the floor, hits his wicked apron splash on Cutler! Commercial break.
As we come back, Kofi Kingston is working over Cutler in the ring, tag to Big E, Leapfrog Splash from Kofi, E covers for a nearfall! Cutler rolls out of the ring, Big E pursues and chases him into the ring where Blake attacks him from behind! Blake tags in, Springing Knee Drop for a 2 count! Grinds E against the bottom rope. Pulls him up, Cutler tags in, double whip into a Double Spinebuster for a nearfall! Blake tags in, STO Backbreaker for a nearfall. Wants the Piggyback Sleeper but E quickly drives him into the corner to break it. Blake manages to keep him in the corner though to avoid a tag. Blake charges, E with the Uranage!
Tag to Cutler, but a tag to Kofi as well and he’s a house of fire! Springboard Clothesline, big dropkick, leaping forearm, and there’s the Boom Drop! Blake runs in and Kofi has to throw him from the ring, that allows Cutler to get Kofi with a Butterfly Backbreaker! Cutler takes Kofi up but Kofi fights back, headbutt takes Cutler to the mat, Cutler avoids his leap and he rolls through, Kofi hops up into a double footstomp to the chest for a nearfall! Cutler escapes Kofi for the tag, Backstabber from Cutler and he holds Kofi in place for a Top Rope Elbow Drop from Blake, very good tag move for a nearfall!
Kofi sends both of them out of the floor as he fights back, tag to Big E! Kofi hits the ropes, E pops him up and Kofi gets Blake and Cutler with a tope splash! Trying for the Midnight Hour as Kofi tags in, Cutler breaks it up, low bridge sends E to the outside and Ryker posts him! Back in the ring, Kofi with a charging forearm to Cutler, Corner Ten Punches, Blake tags himself in as Cutler counters with a Powerbomb sending him spinefirst into Cutler’s knees! Side Slam/Flying Stomp combo gets the win!
Winners: The Forgotten Sons
I don’t know what’s weirder to me, the fact that the Forgotten Sons defeated the New Day or the fact that I predicted it to happen. Little surreal to see them get pushed like that but a very good match all the same.
