In wrestling, injuries come with the environment. Several promising careers were cut short before they could even hit their peaks, while some get to have a legendary run before they met their end. Tyson Kidd falls somewhere in the middle of those. One of the best tag team wrestlers WWE had in the 2010’s, his work with partners like Davey Boy Smith Jr. & Cesaro deserves to go down in history as excellent, but it was when he looked towards singles wrestling that things went arry.
He had been making a name for himself down in NXT, when he would be put in a match with Samoa Joe. While taking the Muscle Buster, he would suffer a career ending neck injury that should have left him paralyzed. Instead, he was still able to walk afterwards which was a victory in it’s own right. Now, with some years of healing behind him and seeing people like Edge return to the ring, the question was inveitable. “Will Tyson Kidd Be Back In The Ring”?
Tyson Kidd Is At Peace With How His Career Had Ended
While speaking with the Wrestle With Love podcast, he would say the following about the potential for a return, mainly regarding an event like the Royal Rumble. “I did get looked at, and things are good, but things are not at that level in terms of my neck, and y’know what? I’m at peace with everything. I haven’t wrestled in five years almost. June 1st, 2015 was my last match, and I’m at peace with it. I love what I do now, and being a part of working with the talent. Right now, at the moment, I’m working with a lot of the women and it’s very, very cool because they’re on a curve, and they’re almost playing catch-up.”
Kidd has worked in a producer role for years now, and has had a hand in putting together some incredible matches and finishes. Just because his body is no longer suited to wrestling, doesn’t mean his mind isn’t perfect. What are some of your favorite matches from the career of Tyson Kidd?
