AEW Dark continues. MJF’s personal bodyguard Wardlow is in action up next, and he’s been in no shortage of impressive squash matches as of late. But interestingly he’s up against another big man in Mr. Grim. I feel like I’ve seen him around on Twitter before, like he’s someone people in AEW know very well and have been supporting. I think he applied for the #SearchForSpears in fact. Wardlow comes out with MJF by his side.
Wardlow vs. Mr. Grim
Wardlow skips the lock-up and just hoists him up to plant him in the center of the ring! Meanwhile MJF is busy on the apron texting. Wardlow kicks Grim around the mat. Drives him into the corner, big shoulder thrusts, decimates him with a big uppercut! Stomps him into the corner. Chokes him with the boot. Face washes him, absorbs a punch and clubbers him across the back. Drives him into the corner again, shoulder drive, uppercut to the midsection. Charges, Grim rolls out of the corner. Charges for a body splash of his own! Charging back elbow! But Wardlow blocks the whip, throws him to the ropes instead, Grim tries for a springboard but Wardlow grabs him out of the air for a massive German Suplex!
Drops the straps, pulls Grim up to his feet and hoists him onto his shoulders! Wants the F-10 but Grim escapes, gets him to the corner, but Wardlow evades a charge and spears him into the corner! Takes him up top and grabs him by the throat! MJF gives the thumbs down, drops him off the top into the driving knee lift! And the ref calls for the bell before Wardlow can even cover, declares Mr. Grim has been knocked out!
Winner: Wardlow
Even against a big guy Wardlow looks like a beast. Afterwards he quite unnecessarily pulls Mr. Grim up to his feet and hoists him onto his shoulders to nail him with the F-10! As if just to prove that he could do it, in case anyone thought he used his other finish just to avoid having to spin him. I must admit that was sorta the impression I got, he did a good job of making it seem like he was really heavy for him when he actually attempted it earlier. But yeah, Wardlow continues to be a promising beast, though it has to be said he’s got a lot of competition in that department at this point. None of them have MJF though, which is a blessing for him.
