Griff Garrison is a man on his own in AEW with Brian Pillman Jr. now part of the WWE roster. However, tonight he’s in action to try to get his first win of 2023… which won’t be easy. Making his return is the three time TNT Champion – Mr. Mayhem himself, Wardlow.
Wardlow Is Back – And Isn’t Wasting Time Getting Victories
Fired up – Wardlow rushed right at Griff with a series of shoulder tackles before stomping him into the corner. Wardlow would be whipped into the mat three times with powerbombs, Wardlow not taking time to taunt like previously with the Powerbomb Symphony. Griff was yanked off the mat for two more powerbombs – before the referee called for a stoppage.
Wardlow would walk off through the crowd once business was done, with fans still chanting his name. This new level of aggression from Wardlow is exactly what was missing since his split from MJF, and without anyone or any championship holding him back – the sky is the limit for Wardlow.
The Acclaimed Defend AEW World Trios Championships
The Acclaimed are riding high after their victory over TMDK at WrestleDream. Tonight, they will face a rising trio in The Butcher, The Blade & Kip Sabian in a title match, looking to keep their trios win streak alive and the belts around their waists. An early brawl would see The Acclaimed gain the upperhand – giving them a chance to scissor in the ring.
Butcher & The Blade would hit a Sidewalk Slam/Leg Drop Combo, sending Caster to the floor next to Bowens – as Sabian hit the Arabian Press Moonsault.
Caster would be isolated far from his partners, with fast tags from the challengers. Butcher would lose control, and Caster would quickly complete the tag to Bowens.
Bowens would quickly cut down Blade after a tag, before the Scissor Me Timbers. A modified suplex-neckbreaker from The Acclaimed on Sabian would follow, and that’s another title defence from The Acclaimed, and a new finishing move in their arsenal.
