During the build to Wrestlemania 36, the one feud that had everyones attention was Edge vs. Randy Orton. While the match was ultimately a let down, the build had people wanting it to main event the show. From the amazing return of Edge at the Royal Rumble, to Randy Orton hitting him with a con-chairto and hitting Beth Phoneix with an RKO, people were hooked. But during all this, people expected one man to show up. He had great history with both Edge & Randy Orton, that being two time World Heavyweight Champion, Christian. However he never showed up, and the reason is now clear.
He Is On The No-Contact List
While some might think that a no contact list could mean people WWE doesn’t want to speak to, it is people who are not to be harmed within WWE. Another person on this list is Jerry Lawler, despite him still being a semi-active wrestler outside of WWE. This news came from an interview Christian had with TalkSport. He retired quietly after becoming #1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship in 2014, and this was due to concussion related issues. Him not being allowed to be harmed, it wouldn’t make since to bring him in as RKO fodder for Randy Orton.
Christian Could Have Added Drama To To The Feud
Considering he won seven tag team championships and broke into WWE alongside Edge, their history is certainly one that is storied. However, his most memorable singles feud came after Edge had already retired. This was also when he won his two World Heavyweight Championships.
Edge had vacated the championship, and Christian would beat Alberto Del Rio in a ladder match to win it, before losing the title to Randy Orton just a few days later. They would go on to have some incredible matches over the next few PPV’s, which really showed how good Christian could be. With him knowing Randy almost as good as Edge, a segment with them could have been tense and dramatic, but it was not meant to be. Instead Edge’s wife would face off with Orton and eat an RKO, a move which really got people on Edge’s side.
