At NXT Takeover: In Your House, the NXT Women’s Championship will be on the line when Charlotte Flair defends against both Rhea Ripley & Io Shirai. However, tonight she would face them both in a tag team match, forcing her to find a partner. With her longtime friend Becky Lynch out of action, she would look deep into the NXT roster to find someone she has not yet alienated during her time back on the roster. It would be Chelsea Green who would seize this opportunity, with Robert Stone setting up another huge chance for his client. Will their egos be able to co-exist?
Isolating Io Shirai To Start
Green would start the match against Ripley, with Green being outmatched early, but would use her agility to try to get control of the situation. She would have her arm snatched, and a boot delievered to her chest. Then being hit with a facebuster, Ripley would look to attack Flair and this break of concentration allowed Green to take control. That wouldn’t last long due to a headbutt from Ripley, which would stagger her into the corner letting Shirai tag herself in. The lightning quick offense of Shirai would leave Green defenseless, as Charlotte did the bare minimum to cheer her parter on. This would somehow work, as Green would counter the tiger feint kick before diving through the ropes onto Shirai.
With Shirai not in control, Charlotte would request the tag, looking to take advantage of her weakened opponent. Green would tag herself back in after Charlotte stomped Shirai down. This would be a mistake, as Shirai would regain control after a dive of her own. A brawl on the outside would ensue, with Shirai thrown deep into the barricade. Back in the ring, Charlotte would apply a headlock to grind her opponent down before releasing her for some chops. Shirai would finally be able to tag Ripley in, who would wipe the ring with Green. A facebuster would lead to a near fall, with Charlotte breaking this up. A blind tag would give us Charlotte vs. Ripley, but an attempt at the Figure Four Leg Lock would be broken up by Shirai would would be quickly tagged in.
Miscommunication and A Self-Less Act Gets Charlotte Flair & Chelsea Green The Win
Shirai would get the advantage, and double knees in the corner would get a near fall. A roll up into a double stomp would only serve to help grind down Charlotte, with Shirai hitting the tiger feint kick. She would look to finish this combo with a springboard dropkick, only for Green to push Charlotte out of the way and take the blow herself. A miscommunication would lead Shirai crashing into Ripley, letting Charlotte roll up Shirai, and with the feet on the middle rope she would secure the win.
There will be no friends going into this coming Triple Threat matchup, which is the way we like it. Do you think Charlotte Flair will walk out of NXT Takeover: In Your House still champion? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
